Ruling Xerneas' Geomancy Attack

The card I'm referring to is the Xerneas from the Resilient Life deck.

In the online game I can use geomancy and attach a single fairy energy onto 1 OR 2 seperate Pokemon. Meaning that if I don't want to waste energy I can just attach 1 fairy energy to 1 Pokemon and skip the second.


Offline is this a legal way to use geomancy? Am I required to attach a fairy energy to a minimum of two Pokemon?

Yes, it is a legal way to use geomancy

The contents of your deck are private knowledge. Even if you just used super rod and shuffled in 3 fairy energy you can choose to attach 2, 1, or even "fail" the search and attach 0.

Just to add. When playing TCG the attack states "choose 2 of your benched Pokemon..." You must declare 2 of your benched Pokemon, if you have 2, THEN search your deck. At that time you can pick one energy, 2 energy or fail
