Welp, expanded has expanded so the need for good XY-On decks may be limited to nationals and possibly cities? Here is my shot at a hit and run deck for the 2015-2016 season.

Pokemon: (20)
  • 4 Gengar-EX
  • 3 Wurmple ROS
  • 2 Silcoon ROS
  • 3 Beautifly ROS
  • 3 Zubat PHF
  • 3 Golbat PHF
  • 2 Crobat PHF
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: (29)
  • 2 Super Scoop Up
  • 1 Rare Candy
  • 3 Professor Birch's Observations
  • 3 Professor Sycamore
  • 3 Shauna
  • 1 AZ
  • 3 Dimension Valley
  • 2 Wally
  • 3 VS Seeker
  • 2 Trainer's Mail
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 3 Muscle Band
Energy: (11)
  • 5 Psychic Energy
  • 2 Grass Energy
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy
Strategy:

Get Gengar and Beautifly out as quickly as possible and proceed to Dark Corridor into Beautifly to prevent damage from an EX heavy metagame. Beautifly has free retreat and can switch back into Gengar each turn allowing for repeated Dark Corridors racking up damage with the addition of Muscle Band and poison damage. The Zubat, Golbat, Crobat line feels like it is just added in to get miniscule damage off and speed up the KO process. The line doesn't feel consistent at 3-3-2 and I am open to replacements for the Bats.

This deck gets crushed by Night March and Yveltal-EX decks. In the current standard format and expanded it also gets shut down by Garbodor (go away already). Critique this deck as a working model for the next generation of hit and run, suggest replacements and let me know if this deck is even viable in the upcoming format. So far it's been a blast to play despite its shortcomings. Thanks for the read.

In theory this deck would be great but I feel there are too many Pokemon in the deck to make it consistent enough to get the Beautifly out early. I would suggest dropping the bat line, AZ, 1 Dimension valley and 2 Super scoop up . (12 cards)
And add: 2 Shaymin EX (for consistency), 1 Wurmple (in case one is prized/KO),1 AT Dustox (Nets you an extra prize for an early finish ,also would help against night march),2 repeat ball (faster setup), 2 Lysandre (can really slow down opponent), 1 rare candy (Faster then manual evolution) 1 Professors letter( low count of basic energy). (9 cards)
From here I would say that possibly more Trainer's mail for added consistency or Silent lab to deal with cards like Aegislash EX that are special energy resistant but its all about personal preference.
I hoped this helped.

Nice to see more people looking at Gengarfly. This is a deck I'm interested in looking at; Beautifly's free retreat and amazing ability are very useful in this sort of U-turn deck.

I'd say to run the upcoming Giant Plant Forest Stadium at 3, instead of Dimension Valley- maybe include DV as a one-of. Giant Plant Forest lets you set up a Beautifly quickly, and circumvents the use for Rare Candy because you can just evolve the line from your hand. If you're concerned about Aegislash, I would agree with adding a Silent Lab, but otherwise the poison damage will rack up on him. If you're really stuck, you can always use Beautifly's attack to deal damage or knock Aegislash out of the active slot.

So if you do run Giant Plant Forest, go 3-3-3 on the Beautifly line. 1 Rare Candy would still be good though, if you can't get the stadium and the evo pieces in your hand by the 2nd turn of a Wurmple being in play.

I would agree with dropping the Bats, and would recommend a couple of Wobbuffet instead- maybe with some Mystery energy so you can retreat them when you need to. This aids with the hit-and-run theme. If you're really having trouble with Night March, maybe a 2-2 Trevenant line would be a good idea- or even Vileplume, which has synergy with Giant Plant Forest.

Finally, since you're running a lot of Trainers, I would definitely max out on your Trainers' Mail. Good luck with the deck!

I really like the deck but i think you should drop the bats and then run a Dustox if you come against a none ex deck like Vespiquen or night march deck. Both dustox from roaring skies could be fine so it is up to you wich one you choose but i think it could be hard to play with the plus dustox because he deals damage to the bench but you could get a extra price and none ex deck often runs low hp pokemon so both pokemon could work. Then you could maybe add one more rare candy.
