Yanmega, from phantom Forces, 2nd attack states that if Yanmega was on your bench and became your active during this turn it dose 50 more damage. my question is if you promote it as your active after yours has been knocked out by an attack from your opponent dose this activate it?
The answer is no. Surprise Strike would only deal 50 damage.
This because, when your Active Pokémon is KO'd, you replace it with another of your Benched ones immediately, so it's still the end of your opponent's turn when Yanmega takes the Active position.
It's the same when your Active is KO'd by poison/burn, since you promote another Pokémon when it's still the in between turns phase.
