Zek/Eels

It's not easy having a good time.

Hello friendly PokeBeach community! I have been gone from PokeBeach and the TCG world for quite a long time now. I left when the first B/W set came out, so I'm pretty behind on the Metagame. I see this "Zek/Eels" all over the Deck Garage and I kinda like it. I'm just not sure how the whole strategy works. I searched around and found all the cards I need, so I just need to know what to do when the deck is together.

Thanks a Lot,

~GG

The deck works by setting up the Eels as fast as possible and putting lighting energy into the discard. Using one of the four lighting attackers (Zekrom, Zekrom EX, Raikou EX and Thunderus) or the splashable techs (Tornadus, Tornadus EX and Mewtwo EX). There's even a Terrakion tech which requires you to run two Prism or two Fighting (preferred) energy as a counter to Darkrai decks and the mirror Zekeels decks. You mainly want to start with either a Smeargle (draw support) or a Thunderus (quick attacker). Smeargle start: Uses opponent's supporters to help your setup. Thunderus start: Attach a lighting energy, use Charge, do a second turn 80 damage while discarding an energy (which you get back with the Eels to attach to a benched Pokemon). This is how Zekeels works, well, the short version.

Thanks so much!

The splashable techs are usually used to deal with Quad Terrakion or any other ground (troll as they're called since the two top decks are weak to fighing)
since it takes time to KO those techs.
