Discard a (L) and a (M) energy attached to magnezone Lv.X. The defending pokemon is now paralyzed.

Does Multi consist as both like it does with houndoom GE's attack?

i don't think it would in this case cause the attack states that you have to discard a lightning and metal energy to complete the attack. and when you put 2 multis together they become colourless energy which does not forfill the attack requirement. the only combos you could use to complete attack would be
1. 1x L/M
2. 1x L/multi
3. 1x M/multi

anyone please feel free to correct me if i am wrong
 
Multi provides only 1 energy at a time, just 1 energy of every type.

So no, you can't only discard 1 Multi.

The AND is implying that you must discard 2 units, one {L} and one {M}. Multi will satisfy one, but you still need to discard a second Energy (either {L} or {M}) to fulfill the discard requirement.

I don't think you can find any card where it says "discard a [type] AND a [type]" and doesn't intend for you to discard more than one unit.
