  • catutie, You keep thinking about that and get back to me when you're done. =P
catutie, Majora's Mask didn't rush you and it was easy to forget about the cycles. It was set up in sucb a way that you can complete anything you need to do within those 3 days. But I agree it did rush the layer at times and Oot was far superior. Wind Waker would probably be my second favourite if it weren't for the endless sailing. Combat, story and graphics were amazing, I just can't stand sailing for that amount of time in WW and it just puts me off.

How can you complain about Mario 64 being bad for having to collect all the stars to move on where in Donkey Kong 64, it's mandatory to collect all items.

And Mario Galaxy is the same as Mario 64, but with better gameplay mechanics, graphics and so much more. I hope you realise how amazing Mario 64 is, along with Galaxy and the rest.
catutie, OH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH
You did not just say that Majora's Mask is bad. And for the love of god take back Donkey Kong 64. Majora's Mask can be a little tedious, but it's on the same stage of tediousness as Wind Waker with the sailing. It's not a hard game (No Zelda is hard apart from the first two. Even then it's only hard for an 8 year old.), by any means, it's as you say, you're missing something. (It's voted game of the decade for a reason.)
And Donkey Kong 64 was just a mess, best kept swept under the rug.

Now, I don't want to start ripping into you for that because that will take days. But I do understand where your coming from, I do agree that the DS version is terrible, and yes the sunken ship is nutorious for being the worst level in a mario game. But I usually judge a game based on the time of when it came out and what the standards are for that time.

As you say, it was ground breaking for it's time, and it's still on a much higher plane than some of the titles that came out on the gamecube after it. Going into the same scenery over and over again feels like backtracking, but games like Mario 64, Mario Galaxy and Metroid at a reach, give great level designs and unique features based on the stars you already have. Not to mention good eye candy complete with brand new features the game offers. However that just might be me as I play very linear and go for the objective if I am going back there afterwards.

You don't need all the stars from each course to continue and if you do it this way, you can find new challenges and surprises after you have beaten some of the later levels and come back to the earlier stages in the future, giving a varied sense of gameplay and adventure.
Metroids backtracking is completely optional (not trying to imply that the mario titles are mandatory) and it requires exploration, so I wouldn't count it in the same topic, but it still makes backtracking fun, or at least bearable. Galaxy for example, Luigi plays differently, jumps higher, runs faster and essentially makes the game a lot easier. I have completed it with Luigi and it only took me half the time as I did with Mario.

    /Obvious massive fanboyism
catutie, So far as I can see, you dislike the game because of a misunderstanding. To legitametly get to the final screen, you merely need 70/120 stars. 70 stars are all you need to get through the final door and up the infinite stair case.
There are many levels to choose from, just by getting 4 stars, you can get to the first 4 levels in which you can get an extra 7 stars from, each level.

Plus, you mention that you can't miss a star. Although in some courses, you may need a specific set-up (Tick-Tock clock, Bowser-2 etc...), most stars are available straight away after you enter. Just because you are bad at one, doesn't mean you can't try another.

Take thwomps fortress for example, the two star door I believe, the level requirements call for you to kill the boss, however you can get four different stars while following that requirement. (The star in the wall, The star on the platform, 100 coin star, Red coin star. A little vague I know.)

The game does force you to get stars, but that's the point of the game.
I assume the avatar is somewhat dragonish, but I can't tell exactly what that is...

    Could you explain that?
So as usual I'm gonna do 3 weeks of non pony avy's and sig's...I do this so that DNA takes the knife away from my throat for a couple weeks. So here is a hint for those that actually care...
Of corse I can do that Cat! You proved that ability!
Now we could put that ability to good use!
    Don't quit on this opportunity!
I'll think of something!! Just give me time. At least around 8:00P.M to 8:30P.M. EST.
    Cause that's when I'll get home. :/
