Apollo said:The term "control group" applies to a series of test subjects that don't have anything done to them during an experiment. For instance, some people volunteer to be test subjects for new drugs before they're allowed for use as medicine. Said volunteers are broken into two groups: those who receive the actual drug that needs to be tested, and those who are told they will but actually receive a fake (normally, a placebo or "sugar pill") that does nothing to them. Ones who get the fake are part of the control group because they aren't having anything done to them, and the effect of the actual drug on those who really took it is compared with those of the control group.
My science fair project form said:Problem/Question: What are the effects of the ability to float, on different liquids?
Research: (list 3 sites/books/articles and a write a paragraph about what they said about your project)http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/124Adensityliq.html
-In one case, the egg floats in hydrochloric acid because the bubbles of carbon dioxide attach to the side of the egg and make it less dense than the water so that it floats.
Smart Eggs - salt water and acid

A. Size
B. Shape
C. Bubbles in water
D. Non-buoyant objects can be made to float
E. Different liquids have different degrees of buoyancy
F. Density of an object and the liquid are factors in ability to float
http://www.deakin.edu.au/arts-ed/education/sci-enviro-ed/early-years/pdfs/floating-sink.pdf-In scientific terms, things float if they are ‘supported by the water’
(or air) due to an up-thrust displacement force. A fish can be said to be floating
in water even if it is not on the surface.
Hypothesis: I think that the difference in the liquids density will have an effect on the egg floating abilities!
Variable Identification:
Independent Variable: What liquids, I place the egg in!
Dependent Variable: The ability to float
Controlled Variables/Constants: The egg’s size, and weight
Control Group: (describe what it will look like if your experiment requires one).
