The Nintendo Switch 2 will release on June 5th, 2025, as announced during today’s Nintendo Direct. The release date for Legends: Z-A was not revealed yet.
The console will cost $449.99 in the United States. Pre-orders will open on April 9th. In other regions, the console will cost €469.99 / £395.99 / ¥49,980 / ¥69,980 (multilanguage).
Update (April 4th): Nintendo has announced, “Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”

Some Switch 1 games, including Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, will receive a free update for the Switch 2 that “may improve performance” and/or add support for certain Switch 2 features. Further details were not revealed.

The Switch 2 will have cartridges, but they will only be used to check if you are licensed to play a game. The cartridges will not contain the games themselves. Thus, you will need to download the game to play it.

If this is referring to the "game key-card system" (https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68415/~/nintendo-switch 2-game-key-card-overview), I don't think this was confirmed for ALL nintendo switch 2 games.

I am not aware of any wording that says "All games", I've only seend wordage that says "some"

Sounds like a skill issue ngl, u can still enjoy the same game but the newer system will obviously have better graphics. Also, would u rather have only one system get games (requiring people to get another system) or have it available on two so people dont have to get another system to play a game from there favorite system. That sounds like gatekeeping

I was going to be in Japan later this year and planned to buy a Switch 2 there for what I thought would be about $335, but it seems if you want a Switch 2 from Japan it has to be a multi language switch 2... wtf.. I hate it here
 
Note that Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness are also coming to Switch 2 via Online Subscription!!!! (along with other GameCube games) Holy Squirtle!!

I’m not saying he doesn’t have a case lmao, I was more referring to how if you want to play the game- you got options. You can still play the game that looks decent or play the same game but pay an extra 10$ for better graphics. It’s not like a key part of it. If you want the better graphics then get it with the better graphics.

For scarlet and violet the upgrade is free, and we dont know about ZA's yet, the only paid ones we know of that are paid are zelda, the ones like zelda kirby and mario party, which have been shown to have actual additional content on top of the improvements.
Also yeah the vers is gonna run better on newer hardware that should be obvious, I personally think at the very least tho the base switch vers shouldnt be full price, but the switch 2 being so would make sense, but its nintendo.
tbh im just gonna buy only the 2 version, my switch is busted anyway
 
Console genuinely looks great but nearly $500 just for the console is a bit out of my price range lol. I’ll wait on it for a while and maybe buy one secondhand for Christmas or something

It’ll be interesting to see how they work. I’m assuming that it’ll be like Stadium with no way to transfer Pokémon back and forth. Fingers crossed we get virtual console versions of the gen 3 games like we did for the first two on 3DS!
