“Celestial Guardians” Pokemon TCG Pocket Set Announced for April, New Anniversary Missions!

Looks like Pokémon hates us. They literally gave the best Charizard card of all time to Pocket, and now are also giving a great Lillie to Pocket

Meanwhile we got this absolute GARBAGE Mewtwo SAR, and extremely underwhelming Ho-Oh

The last jaw dropping physical card for me was the Bubble Mew. It's starting to be a while. They've had multiple occasions to give us amazing cards, and have unfortunately dropped the ball more often than not in my opinion

They better not fumble the Mega Charizard X ...
If you consider the bubble mew to be “jaw-dropping”, I think you just have eccentric tastes. The bubble mew artwork is basic garbage and nothing about it screams “stunning”. Just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean the artwork is good. Literally every other card you mentioned is leagues better than the bubble mew

I like what I like because I find it nice. I bought multiple copies of the Bubble Mew when it was around the $80 mark. Don't need anybody to tell me what to like. I stand by my comment

Do you not find the Mewtwo and the Ho-Oh to be underwhelming?

I agree that the Mewtwo is underwhelming and the Ho-Oh is an EXTREME disappointment. I especially dislike the Ho-oh. However, I also find bubble mew underwhelming as well. You have to understand that everything is opinionated and subjective, especially in a space where it’s all about what artwork you like. Art is literally the most subjective thing ever

I have an huge amount of hatred for this app. The more cool stuff it gets, the more I hate it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so irrationally angry at something for so long as I have with Pocket. And the worst part is that it’s objectively a good, 7/10 or 8/10 experience

I know I'm probably the odd one out here, but I actually really like the Mewtwo. I also like Bubble Mew for its simplistic yet charming design. I agree that the Ho-Oh is pure garbage.

Just because I find it underwhelming doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I actually do like the Mewtwo, it’s a pretty alright card. I’d give it a 6/10. The problem is that it is so far below my (and everyone’s) expectations that our disappointment sours the potential enjoyment of the card, which really sucks. We were all expecting an insane, awesome, and cool artwork for Mewtwo, but instead we got.. a Macy’s day parade float

Call me old school(because I am) but I prefer to have a physical card in my own hands. I really do not like the idea of digital cards for "collecting". Servers crash or get hacked and bye bye "collection" of pixels. True physical cards are at risk of fire and theft but I am pretty sure those odds are less than the digital threats.

That's just silly. They would make more selling both
Cut the overhead, like the cost of the warehouses and printing facilities, cut the cost of the printing machines, and employees, the materials. Just have some artists to make virtual cards. Costs them very little comparatively. People are dumb enough to pay for virtual cards (where they own nothing and are happy, I guess). They need their fix and will buy it either way. Pokemon saves a boat load of money. I don't see why this is a silly concept.

I agree completely. This digital age of owning nothing is terrible.

I agree with the sentiment of pocket having better art than the physical TCG. I have attached some examples of the same Pokemon in both versions. Some of them are not IR to ⭐ or SIR to ⭐⭐ comparisons, but the physical cards tend to be more cartoonish and less vibrant.

While there are many that are on roughly the same level, the Nidoking and Rapidash really highlights the quality difference.

Going directly through: the physical Alakazam is much better, it’s in an interesting location as opposed to another boring “action” shot from Akira Egawa. The pocket Lapras is better. The nidokings are comparable, but I lean towards physical. The physical palkia is a lot cooler, and I appreciate the actual color contrast. Finally, the physical rapidash is also much better looking and more interesting. If you were trying to argue that pocket has better artworks, you failed miserably. There are MUCH better pocket cards you could have used to highlight the quality difference in artwork

... You think that they don't make more on physical cards?
