The trainers would be too playable and too OP. As for Pokemon, you're right, with the exception of Blastoise. Despite being inferior to Blastoise BCR, it would still be viable in Standard with Archie.

They see the tower of cards that is Crobat and are trying to stack another row. Maybe it's an ability/attack that sucks the whole line back into your hand/deck.

I would want the sideboard to be Masters only. I'm sure juniors and seniors could understand it, but I want something that makes Masters a little different. Then the younger players will want to play with sideboards too, which becomes an incentive to continue playing the Pokemon TCG competitively.
