Fun What is your favorite deck?

If we're looking at all formats, that's an incredibly tough question to answer, so I'm limiting myself to last season's Standard. My favorite deck, and the main one that I used most of the time since Roaring Skies dropped, is Sceptile-EX/Ariados/bats. Kinda janky, but a lot of fun to play, and...

Discussion What Team Do You Want to Use in the Storyline?

My flagship Pokemon will be a new spider mon if we get one, Galvantula if we don't, and Ariados if we don't get a new spider or the option to catch Joltik/Galvantula. Outside of my own "must use a spider if possible" rule, I think I'm gonna restrict myself to new Pokemon this time around. The...

Standard Xerneas BREAK/Tina Life Meets the Underworld

This appears to be a deck built for after the rotation, which means we can't assume Latios-EX can get any first-turn KOs because there's currently nothing with 40 HP or less that's good enough to be playable once Night March and Battle Compressor leave Standard. Its second attack isn't really...

    Greninja BREAK

M Sceptile decks were always viable, just never especially prominent, largely due to a shaky Night March matchup (if you could get the Mega out with an energy on it T1, you had a solid shot at winning, but if you couldn't they'd steamroll you) and a bad M-Ray matchup. There have been a few...

    Greninja BREAK

Greninja's general approach is still effective, as all it really lost is Greninja XY (helpful but not essential), Startling Megaphone/Xerosic, and Muscle Band. However, the meta looks like it might shape up to be much more hostile to Greninja than the current one. Without reliable tool removal...

    2017 Format Rotation Announced!

If one print of a card is legal in a given format, older prints with the same text are still legal even if they're from rotated sets. All prints of VS Seeker and Enhanced Hammer are still usable.

    Discussion Metagame After Rotation

Having no way to poison opposing Pokemon between turns means Toxicroak is VERY vulnerable to being revenge-killed, which is a problem for something that has to evolve and takes multiple Energy attachments to attack. It's also stopped cold by Zoroark, anything with free Retreat, Garbodor, and...

    Darkrai-EX / Giratina-EX / Garbodor

Xerosic and Enhanced Hammer aren't as big a problem as Crushing Hammer and Team Flare Grunt, to my way of thinking, because your primary attacker against Trevenant should be Darkrai-EX anyway. Baby Yveltal goes a long way toward mitigating the effects of basic Energy removal while still taking a...

    Discussion The Garbador Effect

I wouldn't call [P][C][C][C] for 60 and a couple of special conditions reasonable. It's completely dependent on Dimension Valley and DCE together for a two-turn setup and doesn't do enough damage to take out any notable Pokemon bulkier than Pumpkaboo/Froakie (and Golbat if you factor in poison...

    Overrated Pokemon in the TCG

Minor correction: there were also two Charizard-EX cards in the Flashfire expansion (plus a full-art of one of them, but that's standard procedure), plus one of each Mega form of it in that set. Your overall points are completely right, though.

    Standard Fruitbats (Sceptile-EX/Ariados/bats)

Already answered in the OP, but I'll elaborate a little more. It's about consistency and general setup speed. I'm not gonna need Ariados till turn 2 anyway, so the lack of an immediate evolution isn't the end of the world. Having extra space on the Bench is a major benefit to this deck because I...

    Standard Fruitbats (Sceptile-EX/Ariados/bats)

Not really the case here. As I mentioned in the OP, the bats are needed in order to compensate for Sceptile-EX's lack of OHKO potential. In a metagame this fast, an offensive deck needs to be able to take out opposing Pokemon-EX in one turn, and Sceptile-EX can't reliably do that without the...

    Standard Fruitbats (Sceptile-EX/Ariados/bats)

    I couldn't think of a better name involving bats and Grass-types. Pokemon: 21 4 Sceptile-EX AOR 2 Spinarak 2 Ariados 4 Zubat PHF 4 Golbat PHF 3 Crobat PHF 2 Shaymin-EX Trainers: 31 3 Professor Sycamore 2 N 1 AZ 1 Pokemon Fan Club 2 Lysandre 4 VS Seeker 3 Muscle Band 3 Level Ball 4 Super...

    Trevenant BREAK

The purpose of the Battle Compressors is to put Wally in the discard and get it right away with VS Seeker for the T1 lock, so taking those out is counterproductive. Between the three of those and the three Wally we have, that's enough to make it work pretty consistently without the need for a...

    Discussion (M) Sceptile EX

If you don't mind my asking, could you please pass along a copy of your decklist for that? I'm having trouble figuring out a solid build for a Sceptile/M-Manectric deck. Also, general updates: I've been doing a lot of playtesting with Sceptile/Ariados/bats on TCGO, and it's been much more...

    Discussion (M) Sceptile EX

^Well, pretty much any Sceptile variant will do a nice chunk to Toad itself. What matters is the kind of deck you're facing, with or without Toad. I've been playing different variants of Sceptile-EX decks as my primaries on TCGO since AOR came out, so I'll run through the decks I commonly see...

Standard Rats Nest (Raticate BREAK / Ariados / Machamp EX)

Hard Charm doesn't stop bat damage, though - it decreases the damage from attacks by 20, not abilities. Since Raticate's so frail that it's easily OHKO'd by any offensive deck with or without the Hard Charms, you'd be better served trying to find an alternate use for those slots.

    Alt. Format Future: Flareon-EX Speed

First thing I'd suggest is decreasing your count of Battle Compressor by one (maybe even two; test it both ways and see whether you can get away with just having two of them in the deck without damaging consistency too much). As far as non-EX attackers go, I'd put in one or two Entei AOR 14...

Alt. Format M Gyarados EX / Manaphy EX

^I'd say that variant runs at optimum with one less Hoopa-EX and one more Palkia-EX. In addition, you're not running enough mons for Sky Field to really be a necessity; I recommend going all in with Rough Seas (maybe one Silent Lab if you're worried about opposing Shaymin or Giratina), since the...

Discussion Non-Electro Shock Therapy! - The Official Beedrill Discussion

Worth a shot, yeah, but I think Miltank is a little better overall, since it gives the deck a chance against Vespiquen decks that it wouldn't otherwise have and makes things slightly easier against Seismitoad-EX. It might be worth splitting the group to include a Dunsparce in there, but I think...
