‘CoroCoro’ Reveals Hoopa Movie Details, Distributions, ‘Emerald Break’ Cards [2/11]

I know I'm going to hurt a lot of people by saying this, but I want to say it because it is something that really aggrivates me: Emerald Break looks like a pretty average set so far. Mega Rayquaza being colorless is already annoying, but the EX selection from what I've heard is really bad. Thundurus-EX is completely random, and Hydreigon-EX is a strange choice that will probably end up being a Dark Type for some stupid reason. The english name is terrible, Mega Latios is a bad choice, and I don't like how the set is trying to go all out with EX's, despite that this isn't a half-set scenario like Primal Clash or Boundaries Crossed.

Aw man that's a shame, I wish there was store that's as decently priced as amiami that we could get these promo items from with our purchase. I bought 4 boxes of the last set from a user here but missed out on those nice Gardevoir sleeves that were given out with every 2 box purchase because their distributor didn't give any out. Or it would be nice is TCPi would give americans the same items for buying boxes here, Wizard of the Coast does this with Magic why cant we have the same with Pokemon.

Yeah, it kind of sucks. :< The individual cards will still be available through resellers, but they'll be expensive. I'm hoping that the card (without the logo, of course) will still be available in the set, but no way to know for sure until it gets closer to release and we start getting leaks.

I don't really think people would be "hurt" by such a statement really, but I must say that's a very hasty judgment call you're making considering how little we know of the set so far. We only have a list of some of the EXes that will be included (and a few non-EXes) and only scans/images for 3 of them. We don't know anything else that will be in the set, or what the cards we do know of will be like except for their names/species. At least wait until the set is more than 5% leaked before you start crapping on it.

I am rather surprised actually that they made Rayquaza EX colorless, as well as one of the M. Rayquaza EX. Not sure if I'd call it a horrible surprise but it's a bit off none the less. I'm sure that full art of Steven Stone will be in our set though. I can only assume we'll be getting a Rayquaza spirit link in this set too, if we do then Delta evolution will work for M. Rayquaza with no drawback, at least for what that's worth.

With Rayquaza pretty much being colorless, I'd like to see Hydregion EX be a dragon type for this set and turn around and have Latios/M. Latios be psychic types then. I just hope they would keep that pattern with M. Latias when she gets released.

My thought though is how are we going to get the downloads for the game that Japan gets, if we do at all? Through codes, wifi, or something else. I highly doubt this movie will hit theatres. Though maybe we should take a cue from them and try it out, they might sell more tickets that way too.

I bet the Rayquaza EX that is released in corocoro will end up being in a Rayquaza box released alongside or not long after Roaring Skies, as was the case with the corocoro Charizard.

Honestly, I'm hoping the Thunderus-EX is simply a mistranslation; I mean, Thundurus has nearly no relation to the Hoenn region. But then again, Hydreigon is apparently also coming so...

Maybe, just maybe, that article was made up (by someone besides WPM)...
Oh, wait, ninja'd by Jax in the other Emerald Break thread...

The Japanese in the news article does actually say "ボルトロスEX" which is Voltolos, the Japanese name for Thundurus.

Aside from the argument that Thundurus doesn't exactly fit into the theme of the set (if one assumes by third gen standards and not by the fact that thunder comes from the skies because then it becomes more apprpriate) I don't see why people are having such a problem with a Thundurus EX.

As far as I can tell, the theme of this set is Flying and Dragon Pokemon, to go along with Mega Rayquaza's Ability "Delta Stream". In that way, yes Thundurus DOES fit as an EX. As do the Colorless (Flying) type Rayquaza.

I'm liking the vibe of this set so far. While Colorless Rayquaza doesn't seem that great on paper, It has potential due to being a splash-able attacker with (presumably) a Spirit Link. And honestly I just think it's a bit cool that we're starting to see more and more Pokemon with their secondary typings in the TCG.

I'm excited to find out more!

I'd be extremely surprised if Rayquaza didn't have a spirit link.

In truth we don't know yet that we'll find Pokemon in here with secondary typing. I hope we do though. I really want dragon forms of Reshiram and Zekrom for instance. And seeing a new line of fairy types...I so hope for the Togekiss line.

I am actually hoping in addition to a Thundurus EX (hopefully non Therian) we get Therian formes of Tornadus, Thundurus and an non-plasma Therian Landorus. Of course these would have to be regular and not EX, but I'm okay with that. We got those in Plasma after all.

How are they going to fit Steven on the title of the card if the Japanese text is only 3 characters? Are they going to move him over or put his name over his hair which they've never done before? Or scrunch his name up really small which I hope they don't do.

Hope they make more full arts for gym leaders from gen 3.

What the hell? Colorless? I mean, sure, it makes sense, kyogre represents the sea, groudon represents the land (and primal groudon wasn't featured with its new Fire-type), rayquaza represents the sky... But until Dragon Vault, we were forced to have Dragons as Colorless-type, now that we have the Dragon-type, they go and make the Rayquaza-EXs and the main set M-Rayquaza Colorless?? Well, at least the one from the deck is Dragon-type, and I can see what they did here.
They're doing the exact same pattern of Charizard last year: a promo EX that comes with CoroCoro, a deck with an alternate EX (which, by the way, if there is a different Mega in the deck, then I guess we can also expect a different Rayquaza-EX, perhaps Dragon-typed?) and Mega, in the case of Charizard, it has two different Megas with different in-game typings, but since that is not the case with Rayquaza, they went for two cards with different-types to balance things.

About the movie, I like the legendary showdown but it's probably gonna be just disappointing cameos. Also, regarding the event Arceus, there's something I find suspicious. Probably has no special meaning BUT... it comes with Blast Burn and Hydro Cannon, the FIRE and WATER Hyper Beam-clones. Are they trying to insinuate something regarding Volcanion? Will it be revealed this year already, like they did with Genesect last gen? Is GF just throwing a joke?
Like I said, it probably isn't nothing, but specifically going for both Fire and Water is weird...

Hey, maybe it is a bit of a reference to Volcanion. Since this is the Hoopa movie Volcanion and Zygarde are the only Kalos legendaries to not be in a movie.

Regardless of Japan, we'll get M. Rayquaza in both incarnations. The one slight downside is if Flashfire is any precedent we won't have full arts of the dragon Rayquaza EX and M. Rayquaza EX.

Whoa whoa whoa, whoa, whoa.Hold up. Is that.... RayquazaC???

These guys are pretty cool, except I think I like how the Dragon type looks a little more than Colorless. That, and Mega Rayquaza's Trait isn't as good as it could have been, but I'm sure the other one can make up for it.

I really doubt they are going to copy Flashfire and neglect to make a Full Art Mega Rayquaza, because then it wouldn't go with Kyogre and Groudon and that would make collectors die.

With two Rayquaza EX in the set one of them will undoubtfully be FA. I just don't think the dragon Rayquaza EX will be the one, it will be the colorless Rayquaza EX instead. Same goes for M. Rayquaza EX, I think it will be the colorless that gets the FA instead of the dragon one. It's no different than the Stoke Charizard EX being FA but not the Combustion Wing Charizard EX, and of course at the time they didn't do megas in FA but I think if it had we'd have a FA M. Charizard (X) EX but not a FA M. Charizard (Y) EX.

I'm still hoping for them to make full arts for the previous Megas... but realistically, it probably won't happen...
