“Black Bolt” and “White Flare” Sets Now Confirmed to Release in June, Hinting at “Black & White” Game Remakes?

There are a couple of reasons why going through all the Unova Pokémon isn't exactly a bad idea, as the SM era had no set focusing on Unova despite having sets focused on every other generation and there is still a large percentage of Unova Pokémon that have never had ultra rares due to the BW era's almost exclusive focus on legendary Pokémon. Don't think this necessarily means we'll have remakes.

Can someone explain why this is so huge? I thought this has been teased for a while, are we just surprised about how soon the set is arriving?

When was it announced that it will be a 151-esque set before?

It's not that it "keeps getting delayed", we never had any information about a release date other than 2025. Everyone just speculated it would be early 2025 because of PLA, but PLA was also advertised as an early year release from the very first announcement. PLZA was not.
Yeah, I’m with you. If anything, the only reason this may get pushed back is because the switch 2 was pushed back. More time to fix bugs can’t hurt though, lol.

The only way I would be down for a remake is if they include both black and white 1 & 2 in the remake with maybe adding some extra content that takes place in between or after. Otherwise I’m fine with nothing.

You know what?
I will say, it is REALLY weird how much attention they're giving unova right now. We got a whole DLC set IN a terraium built in unova, featuring Clay's daughter as our friend and Drayden's son as a semi-rival. We've got GO releasing its Black and White focused season soon- which, yes, was always going to happen given the way go structures seasons and GO Fests. But that's still happening. On top of all of this, we have two japanese TCG sets that will 1,000,000% feature reshiram and zekrom. And there's something else someone on the internet said today that really got me thinking...the anime. Right now, Horizons is introducing a villain who has a shiny Zygarde, and shiny rayquaza is one of the most prominently featured Pokemon in this new era of the Anime despite rayuaza not mattering to ScarVi at all. On their own, these seem like fun things to throw in. But....they're unique. One is a white dragon. And the other just so happens to be a black dragon???

This is way too much to not mean something. I legitimately refuse to believe this is all one huge coinicidence. All of these different and unique parts of the franchise JUST SO HAPPEN to be massively focusing on not only Unova, but also the colors of black and white themselves? I'm gonna be that guy and say it. This is WAY more fuel and leadup than hoenn or sinnoh remakes ever had 😭

Casual reminder that the idea of BW remakes is speculation and to measure your expectations. We might not get them. We might get them but they'll be bad. Who knows?

They don't always do obvious things - we didn't get more Kanto remakes for 151, and Unova was the only region they skipped during the middle Gen 7 year that had a subset focusing on Johto (a component of Lost Thunder), Hoenn (Celestial Storm), Sinnoh (Ultra Prism) and Kalos (Forbidden Light).

Go is also indicative of nothing. The next season is loosely Unova-based because of the Unova Tour, with the tours being an annual region-centric event for five years now.
I don't think the fact that the next go tour was always gonna be focused on Unova should immediately discount it being a marketing tactic to generate hype for zekrom and reshiram. We all know they know how well-liked those two are, are we actually gonna sit around and pretend that these people don't have marketing expertise and wouldn't connect the dots to use prominent legendaries at the exact same period of time that we just so happen to be getting an unprecedented amount of official Unova recognition? They sat on unova for nearly a decade and all of a sudden we just so happen to get all of this love for it? Look, I highly doubt we'll actually get anything unova related. I'm not hopeful. But what I am is confident in my ability to notice these patterns despite how in-your-face they are (i was obsessed with the idea of a Legends Zygarde game the day before it was announced, i even went into google docs to write out an entire concepy about it). For all we know gamefreak could announce a fortnite collab on pokemon day, there's no longer a reason to believe they won't do crazy stuff.

Then again, I fully recognize this could all be nothing.....but when has it ever?

Please Please Please don't turn the protagonists into small marketable plushies like bdsp, in fact id love a remake/3rd game in an updated version of the original style.

It will never happen though.
