“Destined Rivals” Booster Pack Artwork Confirms Sets to Feature Team Rocket!

Sadly there is a massive amount of people thatd say no to that. Like people already foaming at the mouth because of no Misty pokemon ex, or Jessie James in here. Despite these trainers being in the tcg not so long ago. Like 151 made 0 sense but they they have to throw a bone to boomers every now and then to keep them hooked
I agree, but not entirely. Yes, The Pokémon Company often designs products to maximize nostalgia and profit as much as possible. However, in the case of 151, the key factor was that after years, TPCI was finally able to print a Kadabra card. There’s a long story behind why they couldn’t do it before, but as soon as that issue was resolved, they announced 151. For me, this set is more of a special event rather than a sign of a lack of ideas—after all, it’s the first complete set dedicated to the original 151 Pokémon. Still, I didn’t really care about it. Give me Hoenn instead!

Yeah if the next BW set does indeed have everyone then yeah I agree it was a good start of a trend. Iirc during SM era they did that for all gens in a smaller scale and that was fun imo

Not a big fan of the more simple pack arts for scar/vi. Journey together, SFA and Prismatic feel just... plain

Don’t wanna whine about something that doesn’t matter that much but man I have not enjoyed the pack art for the SV era. They were on a roll from the ex era all the way to SwSh days but I haven’t liked any of them since Crown Zenith

Yeah... this isn't gonna help the game at all if scalpers and investors are still cleaning out stock (and they've become bold enough to clean out Pokémon Center vending machines now).

And as far as dealing with scalpers is concerned I'm seeing some cracks forming, some of 'em are wearing themselves thin and are either canceling their orders with some retailers (regardless of whether or not said stores actually allow refunds) and more people are posting their videos/photos of their bad behavior online. I personally don't think those actions alone will scare off scalpers and investors from the hobby so long as TPCi continues with its limp-wristed strategy regarding product releases, they should just say screw it and print every Standard legal set into the ground.

I believe you're thinking of Generations, that set was released to celebrate Pokémon's 20th Anniversary and featured a fair amount of Pokémon from Gen 1 plus some from other Generations via the set's Radiant Collection subgroup.

That said Generations wasn't free from scalpers either. I vaguely remember that a large amount of 20th Anniversary merch being scalped and the Mythical Pokémon Collection box featuring Mew was one of the major TCG products scalpers had their sights on (the other being the Charizard EX box).

Mmm no. I meant individual sets idk if it got lost a bit here in the west but in Japan it was pretty direct like Sky-splitting charisma was a straight up Hoenn set with some sprinkles from SM. I believe most regions got a set like that during that era
