“Prismatic Evolutions Premium Figure Collection” to Include an Umbreon ex and Espeon ex!

Collectors would not be mad. We don't want to pay $1,600 for an Umbreon either.
This is what I like to draw attention to. Neither collectors or players would be mad if it were easier to get cards. Even investors wouldn't be that annoyed. It would only be scalpers whom are impacted.

Imagine if you would, where the English TCG provided an EX card per booster pack, where the guaranteed holo would every so often be an illustration rare, special illustration rare or full art. We would be living in a dream world as players and collectors.

Right now, opening product is a god awful experience. The term "just buy singles" is thrown down a lot; and, for good reason. The state of product as of this moment is simple: it's scarce, expensive even at retail levels, scalped and has some of the worst drop rates for a long time. It just shocks me that TPCI doesn't address this directly. It wouldn't hurt their bottom line to make a change that would otherwise keep the hobby for players and collectors healthy. They actively choose not to, and it's a shame.

I mean obviously they want a chase card or two to drive hype and sales for each new set, but they completely dropped the ball with Prismatic and its pull rates. Over a dozen cards in Prismatic are over $100 on TCGPlayer right now, and Umbreon is the most expensive card from a newly release set... ever? Yeah I think it's ever. Even Charizard's constant new shinies never broke four digits.

One of the most desired cards of all time, Base Charizard, was in 1 in 45 packs (as holos were 1 in 3 packs and there were 15 different holos you could pull from Base Set packs). That's already higher than the chance to pull any Special Illustration Rare in Prismatic, and there's 32 of them. It's so ridiculous.

I honestly didn't even find the year 1 SV pull rates acceptable considering how big and bloated every set is with chase cards now, but other fans clearly enjoyed them after we had a bunch of sets with even worse pull rates from 2021 like Evolving Skies and Fusion Strike. It's still insane me to that they lowered the rates in 2024. All it's done is turn collecting into the stock market where people will lock on to certain cards (Karp, Eevee, Greninja, Pikachu, every Eeveelution) and take them to the moon.

Personally I hope it comes with an Eevee figure of size and quality of the Pikachu from Celebrations, they would be cool to keep near each other; almost like a LGPE omage.

If they threw in a copy of those two SIR as actual cards it would be a game changer; however, I suspect they will just be differently angled regular or full art EX cards.

the quality of that pikachu was actually pretty bad, i’ve seen so many broken ones (including mine) i hope it’s much better but the collection figures have ALWAYS been shifty quality. maybe since they see show popular this set is they put in a little more effort

My one was amazing, it still has pride of placement in my display cabinet ^^;

Using the SIR from prismatic is not a bad idea. This way you give opportunity for everyone to get those cards especially kids who can’t afford the ridiculous price of the singles. If they want fans to stay in the hobby it shouldn’t be normal to keep getting priced out.
Its a terrible idea lol. Its getting scalped regardless, but if it had the SIRs, the boxes would be worth thousands upon purchase. This would only piss more people off for another product they will never get.

The thing about Year 1 SV pull rates is that, while it wasn't as bad as late SWSH sets nor as good as Crown Zenith's, it was uniform. If you bought a box of Scarlet & Violet you were basically guaranteed an SIR card. Was it the one you wanted? Probably not but in the end you still got one.

Thats because short-term TCG investors saw Year 1 SV's pull rates as a problem. As more product was opened the value of their "investments" went down drastically as more product was opened, just look at the Week 1 prices of Miriam and compare it to the current price. They complained about it and, for for one reason or another, TPCi saw that as valid criticism for their release model and decided to alter that between Paradox Rift and Temporal Forces and now you're no longer guaranteed a SIR card in a box. To guarantee any sort of SIR cards you now have to buy a booster box case just get two SIRs out of it and it only gets worse when you booster box-less sets like Shrouded Fable and Prismatic Evolutions involved.

Part of me kind of wants to do some serious digging into who's responsible for the TCG's release structure at TPCi and just name and shame the *owl hoot* out them like everyone on social media does whenever something funky happens to their favorite piece of entertainment and figures out who's responsible for said blunder. The more "rational" side of me, on the other hand, knows full well that such a campaign would be largely ignored by TPCi unless it spilled out into the real world and disrupted one of their bigger tournaments like Regionals or Worlds.
