One piece has much smaller sets and is wider spread, even in Japan. And they only have a few languages so far. I guess they are lucky they started pretty early. For Pokemon that would mean to just not produce some sets in the west for a while and then maybe pause to get it to catch up properly. I not tink they want to stray from the monthly new set in Japan either, at the same time they don't believe westerners would enjoy a new set every month (and I guess they are correct in both situations). A card booster, although just 5 cards, in Japan is just a dollar. They can tolerate a new set every month, especially with set cards in every box. It's not just the timing that doesn't align, but also the way the cards work in each part of the world I assume. Not impossible but not as easy at it seems.
You would just release our set on the same day they get their second set.
that would still leave the gap between the first set and our set. That's not a global release, just a compromise and a bad one at that. And not every set is two sets, sometimes they are just one, sometimes they are three, sometimes we get a special set when it was a subset (Shrouded).
I personallly would opt for the smaller set each month. I hate our sets with passion. The names are dumb and the theme gets lost + all those random promos in there.
