(1) All 'Black' and 'White Collection' Scans and Translations! [12/16]

Wow. There are a lot of cards this time. In the 2 sets which cards will be in which set? Is it random or is it like a starter set box where you have 2 30 set stacks of cards? Anyway looks pretty cool XD.:)

Not really a player of the cards, I pretty much judge on artwork -- and wow, this set is fantastic! Seeing professional artwork of the new Pokémon (besides Sugimori of course!) further proves to me how much I like them all. Can't wait until it's released in America; I might have to break my Base-Neo Destiny rule for this!

First they steal fusions from Yu-Gi-Oh with the LEGEND cards, now they steal Yu-Gi-Oh's Ultimate Rares?
As a comparison...
Tornelos
"Ultimate Rare" Tornelos

"Naturia Bamboo Shoot"
Ultimate Rare "Naturia Bamboo Shoot"

They aren't exactly the same, but they're close enough. The "Ultimate Rare" Tornelos has a different foil than the regular one and does the same, just like the Ultimate Rares in Yu-Gi-Oh.

On another note, I'm loving this set. Pokemon Catcher, Enbuoh(to some extent), Ranculus (JEEZ, that thing's HP is low), Gothiruzel, Daikenki, Max Restore, and Revive should all see play, in my opinion.

100th Post

My thoughts on the Black & White Set cards:

-Elfuun: Amazing card. Can wall with one energy. A Nice tech.
-Mebukijinka: First attack can be strong and second can really substain itself. Good to run with Elfuun above.
-Emboar: Fire Dance FTW! Will definaetly be popular with cars that supply energy. Better than even Rain Dance.
-Baokkey: A very inexpensive version of Magmortar SW’s Magma Bazooka that does less damage to the Defending pokemon but the same for the Bench. Will possibly see good play.
-Reshiram: Decent card. The Ultra-Rare version looks amazing.
-Swanna: A unique card that can do well.
-Tsunbear: This card is barely playable but looks extremelly well.
-Zebriaka: Can do serious damage. 1 for 30, 30 for 70 with Bench damage.
-Gochizeru: 3 for 90 is deadly and nice Body. Similar to Vileplume.
-Gigigear: Can work well with Skarmory from Undaunted and Dialga/Palkia LEGEND from Triumphant.
-Buffalon: Litteral revenge killer
-Tornalos: Decent card that can do 3 for 80 and cycle energy.
-Energy Retrieval: No more discards! Yay!
-Jalorda: A New RR Nidoqueen and energy manipulation. Also, 2 for 60 is good. Possible place in metagame? This + Mebukijinka + Elfuun may really work.
-Yannaki: Decent at best.
-Doredia: Can also heal up your bench good.
-Dentula: A nice card to use and can be used in any type.
-Zekrom: Can add more damage for Outrage. Really good Ultra-Rare version.
-Hoiiga: Venom Shock can work well, but it has to evolve, hopefully Memory Berry is not rotated out.
-Pendora: High HP and decent attack
-Symbolar: Good wall with high HP for a basic.
-Rankurusu: Damage Swap can work with certain cards (Vespiquen/Ursaring Prime, ect.)
-Lepardas: 2 for 80 with Special Darks! Now that is just really good.
-Zoroark: Can be used as a decent tech.
-Wargle: 3 for 90 is kinda good, but risky.
-Revive: Finally! It becomes useful!
-Pokemon Catcher: Gust of Wind Returns! Less of a need of Luxray GL X. How much do think this card will cost online?

Overall, This set is the best Base Set Ever. Tons of great cards, many rougeable cards as well as many cards that will dominate the metagame. Best set since Platinum competitive-wise. Far better than the letdown known as Triumphant. This is going to be a powerful set that MANY people will buy boxes from! We are in for an amazing set!

So... It would seem MOST pokemon are crap, but there are some pretty good ones. Some of the trainers are good though, but what's annoying is this set might make Gyarados even better with Max Restore and Revive, both considerable cards for the deck. One huge thing though is Pokemon Catcher, they might finally be giving Luxray the finger. Energy Retrieval is pretty good, it's finally a trainer that guarantess energy back to the hand (Energy Restore was flippy and Fisherman was a supporter.) Revive, as I said earlier is very good and Max Potion could be in decks such as Gyarados. Again, the pokemon aren't that great, but some stand out, my favorite being Gegegearl.

The one thing that really bothers me though, is that our ultra rare cards are just prettier versions of already crappy cards. I guess they're still shiny and cool and decent at prereleases, but I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad about the throwing out of "super" cards.

... Wow... Well, now I defiantly think there is going to be an instant rotation after this set gets printed. And, now I'm pretty sure that it's going to be HGSS on. Can you imagine Base set Alakasam reprint + Nidoqueen? Holy Moly....

As a side note, I'd better get to selling my Lux X fast, before this set gets printed. The will only drop from there.

As far as I recall someone playing at Cities told me that Japan's current Modified format is Platinum-On instead of HGSS-On. As much as I'd love an HGSS-On format next year (If we make it past May 21st that is), it would break TPCi's promise of cutting 4 sets per rotation instead of just going straight to HGSS-On.

SP's are already starting to lose play and they'll get hit even harder with a Rising Rivals-On format since they lose most of their techs from Platinum Base Set so it won't have much to work off of. A Mid Season Rotation isn't something I see Pokemon USA doing next year however it's credible that they might make that move.

I'm still anxious to see how they'll handle the Rule Changes when the Black & White Base Set makes it to the U.S. next year. They'll probably do like what they did with HeartGold/Soulsilver where they changed "Goods" to "Trainers."

This set is pretty lame, and I kinda strongly dislike the enormous Pokemon artwork of Reshiram, Zekrom, and the lame PokeMan cards. They're terrible.

i HATE the secret rares there horrible.nice shinyness but do not like the idea. i want legends and primes back :( they didnt get long enough in the light ESPECIALLY legends. LV.X's got Plenty of time weve had just a year of legends and prime's.

and also very dissapointed to see X2 weakness's all round again. i liked +10+20+30 more. cause being matched against your weakness with 2X weakness is almost always auto loss

but there are a few Really Really good cards here.

espcially the Moveing damage counters power. you can have a buffer piece with High HP on your bench. stack all your damage there then max potion them. with them not needing energy no loss.
or of course jalorda spread the damae between all your pokemon say 10-20 on each then boom fully healed pokemon at the end of your turn.

eww... the rajins make me want to hurl..... they really got mind problems if they think this set will be successful with THEM in it! BTW, there's a couple of pokemon missing. what is that all about? edit: some of the missing Pokémon are landlos, Roopushin, and gigiasu.

Ok set. Some of my predictions turned out to be true, others were fail. I wasn't expecting 2 of the genies to be in it.

Most of the pokémon cards aren't that good for competitive play. But I don't play anyway, so wtv. The final starters are pretty good though.

I like the new holo pattern but I'm still not very impressed by the secret rares. They seem pointless. I'd rather have "super" pokémon cards than just special reprints. I miss Lv.Xs...
Also, I don't understand why they did stupid changes to the cards stats. Like, electric pokémon used to have a metal resistance and they took it out. Why? And why had most stage 2s and basics increased their HP but most stage 1s still have low HP? Dokkora has 70 HP and its evo has 80HP lol... And Ranculus having only 90 HP is just a big fail...

You guys are looking at this all wrong. Do it one more time, and I'll have to stab you in the face with a soldering iron. This set is supposed to be played BW-on. It basically removes the power creep. IF you notice, it is a major callback to Base. We have Bill and Prof Oak reprinted... I mean Ararangi and Cheren. We have Gust of Wind and Energy Removal 2. We no longer have Powers and Bodies... just Pokemon Powers (like Base). HP was VERY low... get used to it again. The LEGENDS are EXACTLY what we needed. I loved EX... but there were some decks that were too costly. Even if we get a good LEGEND card, they will not cost a fortune to get a play set of. We don't need gimmicks... the game is great as it is. Special card gimmicks are just lame. I am hoping that we'll see BW-on sooner rather than later. The sets (as it goes like this) will be dealing low damage, but unable to power up quickly OR unable to take damage. OHKO's will become a thing of the past (WOO). Strategic 2HKOs are what we're looking for. Game times will be extended and OTKs will become lame. This type of set is EXACTLY what we have needed for a while. THX PUI.

I like these cards, but some of them seem a bit over the edge. A bug type with 150 hp? (pendalor). A pikachu dealing eighty? How many other mice do that? I like Vuljiina, however.

The first cards they showed for the set back when the set was first brought to light really had me concerned for the overall artwork of the set (though there were a few good ones). Thankfully, there are a bunch of really impressive cards artwork-wise:

Of course, that Tsunbear is near the top of the list for me. I just can't imagine any future Tsunbear card's art outshining that one. Kokoromori and most of Himeno's cards look great. The trees in Pendora's and Dokkolar's art blow me away. I think those are Fukuda's cards? Definitely impressive. Nutrei's art looks great, too.

I am definitely not a fan of that secret rare Zekrom's art. The backgrounds for the secret rare Reshiram and Zekrom just look incredibly lazy (especially in the case of Reshiram), even if they're just that way for the awesome holographic effects they have. Hopefully the future sets will improve their secret rare art.

@Zero: So, you think 70 HP on basic that evolves twice and 150 HP on Enbuoh and Pendra is them lowing the HP... ok...

I'm gonna have to buy a box of these when they hit the states. Along with one of the 3 inevitable started decks for each starter they're going to have.

I'm so happy they didn't use Sugimori art for the new release. I really love the artwork - between the set and the starter decks... my poor wallet come May.

The Gust of Wind reprint is going to be a game changer, but the game itself is going to change. We see a more balanced damage without insane donks or abnormally high damage for 2 or less energies. There are a couple of cards that I would like to play and cards that I think will see play but only time can tell for sure. Also, will pokemon communicator be printed as pokemon communication, because I'll be a bit ticked when i realise my communications are worthless when the TCG company could have changed 3 letters that save me $5. Last note, why did great ball suddenly turn into master ball? I like great balls current effect (put onto bench from deck) and master ball was pretty awful from what I remember

I have to say, I don't like this at all. While I'm interested with the blanks. I'm severely disappointed in the basic concepts and stuff. While as the artwork is nice and crispy. I hate the artworks on Zekrom, Reshiram and all other similar cards. Huge pictures and everything. Not my style at all.
