(1) Blend Energy from BW5 Revealed [3/9]

Do really you think stage 1 and 2:s don't deserve the boost... ? Only dragons?
It has the same drawbacks as all special energies. P: Lost remover (&and possibly other trainers), attacks & abilities that affect specials (I think there are some), they can't be recovered and searched as easily, it can't be attached with Emboar/Celebi although it might be used as one of those energies etc. I probably forgot something and mixed something up, but whatever.

I think this is actually a bit better than if it was just for dragons since it gives stage 1's and 2's semi prisms.

It's starting to feel like we're NOT getting a Dragon Energy after all... <=( Darn. I was really hoping for one too... Still, the art on this is pretty neat! =D

...why WOULD there be a Dragon Energy? None of the dragons have any attacks that require Dragon-type energy...

I really am thinking, "meh." No dragon energy. These people should really cut to the chase, or at least tell us there will not be a dragon energy (not saying there won't be), but anyway, it still might make some dragons more usable.:p

If there was a dragon energy, it would probably have the effect of Double Rainbow Energy. At this point, and dragon type energy would be useless.

Blend Energy is cool, but I was kind of hoping for something that would be more uniquely suited to the Dragons. Perhaps, say, a DRE that has to provide two different types of energy, or something. This is useful, but bland, like a slightly more restricted RE that you can use in addition to your 4 REs.

Who said anything about stage 1 and 2's?
And what I meant with drawback was that this energy doesn't put 1 damage counter on your pokémon (like rainbow), or stops providing any type of energy if there's already other sp. energies (like multi energy). and Prism only works for basics, so I consider that a drawback too and that the only thing I said involving a pokémon stage...
Also, I think it should be exclusive to dragons because they're the ones who need it the most, the other pokémon (of other types) that are currently more used don't really need this... unless you want to try some dual type deck...

You guys know that we probably won't get the BW5 cards in North America/Europe/everywhere that's not Japan until after our next rotation, right? So this Blend Energy might be a lot more important if Rainbow Energy gets rotated out.

All the more reason why there will be a Blend Energy-WLFM; to make sure every poke has a rainbow energy they can use.

Just a nooby question here - but doesn't this work for 6 corners well too? Or does Prism still take any special energy slots in that?

^ You could run this in Six Corners. At the same time time, you could run prisms. Run as many Special energies as you want in a deck, as long as you only have up o 4 of each.

That might of been referring to how Six Corners generally doesn't have much room-4 DCE, 4 Prism, 5-6 Grass, and then that's often all they run. Blend could replace some of the grass energy, but so could Rainbow, and I think Rainbow works better. A line of 4 DCE 4 Prism 4 Rainbow 2 Blend seems way too weak to Lost Remover and Frozen Wings for my tastes but it could be done.

Darkrai EX instantly comes to mind when I see this card. Free retreat and multiple energy types? Yes please!

As long as this card is attached to a Pokemon, it provides either [G], [R], [P], or [D] Energy, but only 1 Energy at a time.
The effect of this card is going to change depending on whether that word in bold is an 'or' or an 'and'.

If it's an 'and', it will work like Rainbow Energy, where it is simultaneously multiple types at once.
If it's an 'or', will that mean that we can actually choose what type it is at any one given point, i.e. the wrong way to play Rainbow Energy?

I would disagree--it was definitely designed to make Dragon-types more useful overall, but I think it was also designed with the intention of it being a general-use card as well. That, and to diversify types in decks.

This set seems to want to do two things: Shift the focus away from Basic Pokémon (as there are a lot of evolved Pokémon in this set, and they've stopped gving perks to Basic Pokémon--there are Giratina EX and Rayquaza EX, but there's nothing that benefits specifically Basic Pokémon the way Eviolite and Prism Energy do) and encourage multi-type decks (the Dragon Pokémon require multiple Energy types, after all, though it looks like this will be a tough thing to do). Blend Energy, and its inevitable fraternal twin, seeks to do both of those: It allows a half-Rainbow Energy with no drawbacks for Evolved Pokémon to use, but it'll only be useful in a deck that uses at least 2 of the types.

They could be absolutely ridiculous and have a whole bunch more Blend Energy cards so that every combination of 2 types (besides Dragon and Colorless) would have a Blend Energy. How many different ones would that take?

...Reminds me of Alph Lithograph. Four cards with the same name but completely different effects.
That would be hilarious.

Looks like the Energy types are part of the name though. I'd bet this will be called "Blend Energy GFPD," just as we had Holon Energy FF, Holon Energy GL, and Holon Energy WP.

Actually, you'd be surprised to know that all the mainstream companies do not have a lot of energy blend. I too am a big fan of energy drinks and out of the 120 energy drinks I've come across, the drink with the most energy are the BooKoo line of energy drinks. You can easily access them at your local Big! Lots for only .60 cents and they are in a 16 ounce can.

actually I'm leaving this spam bot message because I find it extremely amusing
