(1) Cobalion-EX from ‘Plasma Gale’ Revealed! [9/8]

with dragon weakness, 'less than friendly' energy demands and 10 less damage?

cobalion can also attack turn one and has more than one use (discarding those blend energies for example, which most giratina players rely on). yes, you can use hydreigon to shift the energy straight to giratina, but cobalion has the advantage of using the basic energy from klingklang, as well as any special energy in play.

giratina just seems under-powered now we have cobalion
I didn't say anything from a competitive spectrum. All I said was that I would rather play Giratina. I said nothing whatsoever about whether Giratina is better or not.

We now have Lugia, Legendary Birds, and Cobalion. I wonder who will make the 6th and final EX spot.

Metal is going to destroy once this set is released.

If it does get very popular (which probably won't) Hydreigon would just tech in a Victini or 2 (the one that does 100 if you have your bench full).

Hopefully Suicune. Or Virizion?

Ah. It's unfortunate that Cobalion isn't very good and that Quad Entei is still kind of around. (I saw it paired with Garbodor and it's not bad.)

ok...

so why DO you want to play giratina?

I never said I wanted to play Giratina. I said I'd rather play it over Cobalion. I don't want to play Giratina.
Do the math. :3

It's true that Dark Explorers and Dragons Exalted gave us six EX's. It stands to reason the same pattern will hold true for both Plasma Gale and the upcoming Boundaries Crossed. There is nothing to guarantee that trend will hold.

1) In Black and White and Emerging Powers we only had two full arts. Noble Victories pushed that up to five and they still had to release Landorus full art seperately. We've had six full arts (the ex's) for the last three sets but Boundaries Crossed should up full arts to eight (six ex's and two trainers).

2) Next Destinies gave us four shinies.while Dark Explorers gave us three shinies.and Dragons Exalted gave us five shinies.and Boundaries Crossed should give us four shinies. Though these have no direct relation to ex's it still goes to prove my point above.

If we're going beyond BW7, EXs won't be around at all eventually.

@Glace: You're right, I was looking at the set page on Pokebeach and I mistook the pre release Altaria. My bad.

@Furn: You're right, eventually they won't be around. No one knows when (or if technically) that will happen. Let's not forget that we're missing several things here. We don't have Genesect, which to me practically promises at least one more BW set. We only have one alternate form of the genies (Landorus will get his in Boundaries Crossed, Japan already has it) and for whatever that is worth we only have two of Sawsbucks season forms. If their being picky we lack a few dragons (Kingdra,Dialga, Palkia, Reshiram, Zekrom, basic Kyurem if the promo isn't part of Dragons Vault along with Origin Giratina and Arceus if they decide to make those). Let's not forget how long the original EX series lasted.

They probably will stop making EXs when they run out of legendaries.
No guarrentee!

Cobalion/Klinklang?

I can't wait to see the EXs in Plasma Gale as Full Arts!

@594362: Most likely right. But we have a while to go yet. Off the top of my head we lack EX's for the following: Palkia, Dialga, Mesprit, Uxie, Azelf, Suicune, Jirachi, Arceus (maybe up to ten of them if they decide to do one for each type in the ccg), Virizion (possibly depending on what happens with Plasma Gale), Shaymin, Manaphy (Maybe), Victini,Heatran (maybe), Thundurus (both forms), Latias, Latios, Giratina Origin, Landorus original form, Tornadus (alternate form), Regirock, Regice, Deoxy (four forms).

This list ignore some other aspects, such as many of the dragons having another type in addtion to their own, or that some Pokemon have two types, like Victini, Jirachi and Heatran.

Personally I dislike the idea the Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia are going to make their appearance here as Plasma Pokemon. It seems wrong somehow, especially since they weren't even used by Team Plasma. But whateva.

I believe there's still enough legendaries to make EXs until next gen if they continue the trend of 6 EXs per set...

Just a note: with the reveal of Victini EX we now know that poor Virizion joins Suicune under the neglected part of a Pokemon group list.
