Is Virbank City Gym translation correct? I mean, on Bulbapedia and Serebii it's translated as "Put 2 dmg counters instead of 1" and this really matters in poison decks.
Someone (Gliscor) actually asked me this once, since I can read a smattering of Japanese when it comes to translating things.

I personally have come to the conclusion that it's "2 more", not "2 instead of 1". The reason for this is I looked at the translation for Crobat Prime, and the wording on that card was different than the Virbank Gym. (I just looked at the Muk from NXD right now and it's got basically the same wording as Crobat.) There's an extra word or two on the Stadium that aren't present on Crobat or Muk.

So yeah. I would say "2 instead of 1" is incorrect, but I am not a Japanese buff, so do not take my word as absolute truth.

Amoongus from NV has the attack toxic. "The defending pokemon is now poison. Put 2 damage counters instead of 1 between turns."

That's a Whirlipede from Emerging Powers.

Whatever do I care about this stuff you got the point.

And plenty of Pokemon have had that attack or something with the same/similar effect, like since Fossil or something (inb4 DNA corrects me and I'm wrong on this too its like Base). Its nothing new at all. Just pointing that out.

No one said it's new. In fact, that's exactly what we're pointing out. Poison inflicting more than 1 damage between turns has been around forever in multiple forms, so to have a card that adds extra poison damage not affect those cards, makes all those super poisons nearly pointless.

That's bad logic because there are plenty of cards that make each other useless. As I said earlier, Volcarona and Full Flame. Vileplume UD and Gothitelle (trainer lock) or something. I'm not arguing on what the effect is, I can't read Japanese so I honestly have no clue, but just because it conflicts with another card's effect is NOT a reason for it not to exist.

I just noticed both of the ace spec tools for Kyurem EX are called cyrstal edge.
Isn't the one for Black Kyurem supposed to be called crystal wall?

*checks*
So it is. They just wrote Crystal Edge next to it by mistake.

Our translation is correct. Bulbapedia doesn't have people who know actual Japanese (they translate based on wording from cards that already exist), and Serebii just c/p's Bulbapedia and changes the wording.

Yep.
I remember when they got the Red Collection Chandelure translation wrong.
Twice.

Good to know! Glad I always check here first :p

Also, 4 poison damage between turns sounds pretty sweet!

I can't read enough Japanese to read it, but it *looks* like there's only a 2 there. I don't see a 1 or anything that means 1 in Japanese, so it would make sense for it to be 2 more. However, it could just be different wording. I also think there were some Pokemon that had a poison effect that added 2 between turns already since BW... so it wouldn't do anything to them if it was just "2 instead of 1."

WPM briefly mentioned it, but I'll go into detail.

おたがいのどくのポケオン全員は、ポケモンチェックのときにのせるダメカンの数が、それぞれ2個ずつ多くなる。

First part declares that this effects all Pokemon in play that are poisoned. Second part tells that during the Pokemon Check (i.e. between turns), there is a modification to the Damage Counters placed. Third part tells that the number of damage counters INCREASES by two.

If it was 2個になる instead of 2個ずつ多くなる, then it'd be "have 2 damage counters placed instead of 1". However, the 多くなる means that it increases the number by 2, instead of changing the number to 2.

The translation is correct.
