(1) Gothitelle and Ferrothorn from 'Emerging Powers' [8/5]

The higher quality scan of Gothitelle reallly makes the artwork look much better. Ferrothorn... meh. It's really not playable.

Ferrothorn Emboar? Anybody?

Nah. I'm still not a big fan of Goth, and Feroothorn isn't really playable.

i can see someone abuseing thron but goth i wish it would have said as long as goth was on your bench then it would get all kinds of abused

Right, because restricting both players is so much better than just restricting your opponent :p

Ferrothorn is obviously not playable, even difficult to be placed in a rogue deck.

Goth seems pretty interesting when you combine Jirachi UL with it. Energy Switch, Junk Arm, and SSU/Seeker would serve an interesting setup for the energy acceleration. It's clearly not fast enough for Reshi/Zekrom or a number of other decks, but an interesting rogue to play with. For bonus lols, tech a Reuniclus and move the damage to Jirachi (which is to be scooped) and itself (if there's not enough buffering going on from the Jirachi). As long as you don't get a OHKO (on that note, Goth as active prevents PP from being played to allow either Reshi or Zekrom to use their second attack for a OHKO), a Goth stacked with 5 {P}s means full sweep. Of course, that is if you manage to get to that point.

Even though Ferrothorn isn't really playable it's the best card I have seen in a while because it's English exclusive. It's been a while since we have had cards before japan and it makes it more exciting when the set comes out.

Am I the only one noticing that there seems to be a lot of cards that say "Does X more damage for each energy attatched" or something along those lines? Gigalith, Gothitelle and now Ferrothorn. I don't really like it, but it might become part of the new format...

There has been a number of old cards that have done so too. But in this place, energy acceleration isn't that available, so it would make sense.

Agreed. English Exclusives/Things that are released in the United States before Japan are awesome!

Goth would be good except why would you go Goth when you can go Plume?

I would choose Goth because it has no fire weakness in a format where reshiplosion and reshiboar are considered top tier decks. Goth + Muk + Jirachi would be a good deck. Muk as your early attacker , Goth as your late game attacker.

I still think Ferrothorn and the others aren't from PsychoDrive/HailBlizzard. If you think about it, if they were from BW3, then it means that BW3 would also have a Ferroseed, Venipede & Whirlipede, Sandile & Krokorok... But if they are being released now in this American set, what will happen to the pre-evos when BW3 comes to the West? Do you really think they would take out fully-evolved pokémon from a future Japanese set, and when comes the time to release that set in the west, the basics and stage 1s of those pokémon would come alone in that set?

Haha, Ferrothorn is terrible. And Gothitelle is, imo, a little nicer than Vileplume. DCE compatible, a decent 90 for three Energy, and 130 HP? Yes please. It's an issue that Gothitelle needs to be Active for disruption, on the contrary.

Just keep in mind that DCE doesn't add onto the damage, so sticking a {P} and DCE is a mere 50 damage. I'd use less DCE and focus more on the energy accel (stated in a previous post above).

That may be true but imagine if with rare candy you have a turn 2 Goth and are doing 50 damage and preventing your opponent from using items (meaning you can use max potion, pokemon catcher, potion while your foe cant!). You still have an advantage!

Ferrothorn being unplayable so so ironic.

My opinion of Gothitelle is "meh." I can see some decks being built around her. Now all we need is a supporter lock ability and we're in business.

I'm happy about Gothitelle's release, If you run defenders and Serperior, you could have the Lock forever and do 90 per turn as long as they don't do more than 130 lol. Gothitelle tank lock anyone?

Another trainer-locker. This one has a viable attack at least to supplement the fact that it has to be an active Pokemon for its ability to work.

I see Ferrothorn having some potential as a sniper. If you load up a bunch of DCEs, or just some normal energies, and are a bit lucky with Iron Defense, it makes a fair sniper, but its health is pitiful.

Gothitelle uses hype up...again. Where I can understand why people like the card it really isn't that amazing.

My problem with it is the same thing it was when we first heard about it. It has to be active, second it really doesn't the same menacing attack a lot of pokemon. It does 90 damage for 3, and that's if they're all psychic, and more than likely the player will choose to use some DCE due to speed, so that's actually 50 damage. That's nothing compared to the massive basics that are dominating the format like Reshi.
