(1) Japan's December Set: BW4 'Dark Rush' [9/20]

So... is this set focused on Pokemon who have the Dark-type in the video games (which is what I got out of the update), or is it the "Dark" that's found in Team Rocket, Neo Destiny and EX Team Rocket Returns (which it seems a couple of other people are getting from it)?

If it's the former, meh. Not a fan of most Dark-type Pokemon. If it's the latter, that's okay I guess.

It seems to me like there is a pretty good chance of there being a legal Darkrai in this set (finally!), maybe even an ex one. That alone would make the set good to me.

Eh, I think if they were bringing back "dark pokemon" they would have listed it as a major point from the sellsheet the suppliers got their information from. Not to mention it'd be pretty distinctive, they've always been called Evil/Bad Pokemon in Japanese, instead of dark. We'll see soon enough..

wow, i wish it brings some sort of a new mechanic to the game :)
n i just wondering but isn't the umbreon in the campaign pack the undaunted one ?

You can see a beta image of the blister pack and the set's booster pack below (the Umbreon shown is just a placeholder).

Read the news people! Read the news...

Wow this is the 4th set for B/W already? It seems that we just started with B/W. Wow. Time sure flies XD.:)

2 months??? That is not enough time for anyone to get a set nearly completed except for the hardcore players. For the average player that is not enough time to get a set half complete. 2 months is a little to quick to be releasing sets. 2-4 months yeah I can see but 2 months is cutting things to close XD.:)

I don't think the casual player tries to complete any set. And those that do will do so right away.

Correct. As soon as a box is available for preorder (at least in the case of JP sets for me) I order at least 2 depending on set size, go for as many cards as I can through boxes, and then fill in extras. It's cheaper to complete a set very fast nine times out of ten.

It's a normal gap, 2-3 months. The gap between BW2 and the two BW3 sets was horrible (only a single month.)

Then what about those that can't afford to get the cards when they come out? (like me for example) I barely have enough to get the cards I want to get. Then when I do get the chance to get more cards the set is long gone and I have a hard time trying to get those cards from that particular set when it has been out for awhile. 2 months is too fast for most players XD. That is all I am saying. They are moving too quickly these days.:)

EDIT: If they are going to move this fast I hope they keep the previous sets around for at least 6 months or more at a time in stores. I barely can get the cards that I want to get so it makes it very difficult to get the right set cards as they are now moving to quick on the sets for me to keep up. I used to be able to keep up until the crash of the economy and now the speed up on the card sets.:)

This has been the pace Japan has kept for most of the time though, and when there aren't sets, there are heaps of decks and kits. If anything they're more affordable now since the entire box cost has dropped due to the pack sizes and pack cost.

The US set run will always keep the same set monthly rosters, so that's not a threat there.

In Japan, as long as it's rotation, it's for sale. BW-on is happening, so they'll be around for a long time at this rate. I was still able to buy DP packs in 2009 from Pokemon Centre.

Darkrai EX.... It has to come. I'm all for a T-Tar EX as well. Could you imagine the HP? He seems to always get some beastly trait on a card.

Hmm. I wonder why I just now noticed this pace now. Seems like a few years ago it was 3-4 months per set. I thought that was how it was until now. Still a bit to quick for me as I can't get cards very often as they are $5.00 or more here where I live. That usually contains a promo and a partial booster pack along with a regular booster. You get all that for $5.00 XD Decks are about $1099 and tins are close to $20.00. About $15.00 at Walmart and at Fred Meyer closer to $20.00 XD/ I just never noticed this pace until now though. You can now see why I think they are moving to quick XD.:)

If there were Dark Pokemon in this set, wouldn't Light Pokemon half to return as well. Maybe in BW5 in Japan, Light Type Pokemon will return? I can't wait to see some cards of this set!

IRC on this one but barely can remember why Light Pokemon were introduced. It had something to do with some sort of testing to see how Light Pokemon would appeal to the sets. Thus to it not working out so well they cancelled out this idea as the Dark Type Pokemon actually roamed big time in the TCG world.

Dark Type Pokemon held on because of all the support that went into these type of Pokemon so they decided to keep this part of the TCG base and Light Pokemon were phased out after the Gym Challenge sets were done. This was pretty much for the Gym sets too. There was not enough support for these either because most did not like these as collectors. I fortunately would like to see these Pokemon return but I doubt we will see Light Pokemon or Gym sets because of the lack of support for these cards.

Yeah I have some of these cards myself still and they look pretty good but with not much support they had to phase these out. Yeah it stinks but there is nothing we can do to be able to see the face of these cards. To most of us casual players these cards were really good cards but to competitors they were not as good as they could have been. Dark Pokemon have had the upper hand for a very long time now. For the Light Pokemon to return it is going to take a lot of patience and also the time to make a return. If this happens it will be a miracle at that. I on the other hand don't see it happening soon.

To close this off Light Pokemon may or may not ever return but for the time being Dark Pokemon are going to stay a part of the TCG and light Pokemon were only a test along with the Gym Leader sets. It is a shame but if it does happen I will be shocked to see these Pokemon and sets to be able to come back. Remember IRC on this but I think that is how the Light Pokemon and Gym sets were phased in and out.:)

Hmmm yeah dark cards would be sweeeet like, maybe shadow victini? Speaking of dark pokemon I wish they could do a reprint the gold star
umbreon. :(
