(1) Keldeo Distribution at Gamestop from August 27th to October 6th [8/4]

Yeah, standing outside should suffice, but I have found that it can block the signal. If you have to go inside, you'll only be breifly greeted. And then you can silently leave.

From what I've noticed, the GameStop people are totally cool with people walking in, getting the event, and leaving. At least, they are with the ones I go to. But I'm a regular there, so...

I don't exactly approve of their business practices, selling DS games for $40 when you can get the exact same game at Target for essentially $30 (with a pre-order).
I go to GameStop (even though there's a Target in the same center), because 1) Target doesn't sell used games, 2) I hate Target.

*shrug* Looks like I save money.

It depends. for the shiny beast distributions they had like little ds cartridges in a ds that needed to be on so that we could download the pokemon. Other times, though, you can just stand outside and download it.

The town next to ours finally got a Gamestop and I can't wait to try this out. Before the new one the nearest Gamestop was 2+ hours away.

I've got to go back to pre-order Black 2 (since I only recently found out White 2 doesn't get Challenge Mode, I need to get both versions now) so I guess this works out... It's a shame they don't just do it over Wi-Fi, though.

I guess I won´t be able to get it... -_-
I probably will need to give a shiny if I want to get it... D:
I hope Meloetta will be over Wi-Fi, though.

wait wait wait wait wait
where did you hear this

I am quite sure that both Black 2 and White 2 have Challenge Mode. I could be wrong though.

I so wish that Meloetta will be at Gamestop now. I think it's actually better business for Nintendo to do it at Gamestop, since it's already selling games, and Gamestops are usually in more places than Toys R Us. For myself, I can just drive 3 minutes down the street for a Gamestop; for Toys R Us I have to take 10 minutes and hop into the next city over.

I'm not sure I understand your reasoning as to why GameStop excluisvely hosting events would be better for the franchise. I'd say Toys R Us is the overall better location since those coming in for the event are also exposed to other products like the TCG and toys, not just the games.

I can't help but be curious if this event is also compatible with B2W2, since the Japanese equivalent is. If I can find a retailer stocking the games early or the guys at my local store let me try it before they send the cartridge back I'll definitely be giving it a shot.

Except that there are less overall Toys R Us stores in existence...and they run events very terribly. I remember the one near me did not get the Zoroark event for the whole week it was supposed to have happened, even though supposedly the Nintendo rep was coming to the store.
That, and Toys R Us is just a really disgusting place in general.

I'll give you that, there are more GameStop locations so it's better for the sake of accessibility. I've never personally encountered a TRU location that bad, and wouldn't even get close to calling the ones I've been to disgusting. It sounds like your nearby store is pretty bad, though.

To be honest, I'm a bit surprised GameStop got distributions back (they tend to pay highly for things like exclusive pre-order DLC, so there's no doubt that TPCi and Nintendo are paid to bring Pokemon events to their stores). Some locations have some pretty shady employees who essentially only work there to hoard the pre-order gifts intended for customers. This same breed of employee at some point have actually ripped distribution carts and posted them online for flash cart users. It's my belief that this is the reason that every event after the 2008 Deoxys promotion until the 2010 shiny Pichu promotion was hosted at Toys R Us (as punishment for GameStop allowing that to happen).

Yeah, I don't think I once ran into a TRU stores that I liked...and I've only been to about three of them. The one near me is the worst one of all; everything there seems to be so utterly disorganized.

This...is actually pretty believable. It wouldn't shock me. I'm just fortunate to have a great GameStop near me, it seems...

Pokemon.com has announced the event. Keldeo will be revealed on August 20th 2012!

You can get Challenge/Easy mode on both games, but you have to obtain Challenge on Black2. So if you have a friend that's getting that then you should be good. I don't like that you have to wait until after the E4&Champ to get them.

Anyone know where this'll be distributed in the UK?

Keldeo will be distributed in GAME stores and Gamestation stores from September 1st to October 11th. No idea about regions, though.

Man, why don´t they start giving Mexico some love? D:

Hi, a newbie question - how does one get Keldeo? Does my younger son just walk into our local Gamestop, or do we need to reserve in advance? Is it free?

Thanks!
