(1) May's English Set: 'Dark Explorers' [2/24]

I really hope it's the same individual coming up with the cheesy descriptions for each set. It must be torture coming up with them. (I wonder if the Japanese sets' descriptions are just as cheesy?)

Anyway, like others have said the artwork for the Darkrai is pretty cool. It's nice to see there's been a solid trend of good pack artwork.
 
Is their anything else that could be here that wasn't from Dark Rush? Reason being DR is 76 cards which is way too small to be one of our sets.
 
And the set after this will be called "We've run out of EXcellent names".


I hope Emopleon, Ultra Ball and Krookodile are in this set!
 
Man this sounds awesome. So after this set, is it the dragons and Keldeo combined? Or is August the Dragons and November Keldeo?

Regardless... looking forward to Larvesta and Volcarona for collective purposes. I love their art. Same goes for the Eeleektross line. Great artwork.
 
Don't forget the trainers, we might get Dark Patch and Darkness Claw which would immediately make Darkness one of the best types in the game.
Think of Darkrai EX, with Darkness Claw and SP Dark attached, doing 120+ for 3 energy and also sniping 30 the same time. Dark Patch means you could potentially set up a Darkrai from nothing in 1 turn.
 
I think we won't be seeing reprints of SP Darkness and Metal energies, so as soon as rotation occurs we probably won't see them again.

Yeah, I'm guessing the set is basically going to be:
-74 Dark Rush cards -- there's 76 in Dark Rush, but we got Mandibuzz and Swoobat already
-4 Psycho Drive/Hail Blizzard cards -- Kyogre/Groudon-EX and their full arts
-13 out of the 18 Zekrom/Reshiram EX Deck cards -- they probably will skip the Cheren, Juniper, Switch and N reprints, as well as an Eevee
-12 out of the 14 Thundurus/Tornadus Deck cards -- they probably will skip the Tornadus/Thundurus reprints
 
I haven't played the TCG in a looooooong time, but Kyogre EX?!

I was hoping we'd get some of the non-dragon stuff from DBDB to fill up the numbers.
 
I don't think this set will be as great as Next Destinies. And Next Destinies wasn't "amazing" itself. Comparing the EXs in Dark Explorers and Next Destinies, I think Next Destinies has it better. I want all the EXs, though! Except Tornadus-EX....that, and Shaymin-EX are two EXs that I don't want to pull as much as the others. Darkrai-EX, Raikou-EX, Groudon -EX, and Entei-EX are the EXs I'm excited for. I don't play TCG that much, so how playable they are doesn't really matter to me.

Well, our August set will probably have at least 120 cards(BW5+DS not counting any FAs or Shinies from bw5) plus whatever new cards the half decks bring. Large sets aren't uncommon in this TCG but we MIGHT see some non-dragons in here like with NV having stuff from HB/PD.
 
I bet most fans didn't understand the "EX" In "Next Destinies".

On a side note, do you know what I really want to see in this set?

Rare Candy.

It doesn't take long to figure out why I want to see this.

Prepare for Dragon Explosion.

I assume they will fill the set with cards from the Tornadus VS. Thundurus Gift Set or the unreleased new Cross-Region Trainer Kit. First seems highly likely due to Torchic and Combusken.

Dark EXplorers! What a nice name reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky.
Furture set predictions:
August Set: Cards from Japanese Dragon Selction, Dragon Blade, Dragon Blast
November Set: Cards from Japanese Battle Strength Deck Keldeo, Japan's July Set, which will focus on Kyurem, Keldeo, Virizion, Cobalion, and Tekrizion, and various other Pokemon related to the 15th Movie.
 
I hope one of August/November's sets is huge like Legends Awakened and Supreme Victors were. I think there's a lot of cards coming out in Japan soon, so it's kind of necessary. Plus we're overdue for a gigantic set again!
