(1) 'Mewtwo Collection Box' in February [12/22]

I hope the ex's in these sets aren't nearly as rare and hard to find as they were during the R/S/E era or they'll be nearly impossible for collectors to get unless they can shell out the cash.

Is anyone really surprised that they're releasing a Mewtwo box and not including a Mewtwo ex? It would have been neat if it included some sort of promo Mewtwo.

The EX cards will probably be as rare as Primes were.

It'll probably be comparable to back then actually. Probably give or take 3 EX per box and the possibility of 1 shining pokemon. I think that was the ratio back then?

It is annoying though that I'll probably end up buying 2 booster boxes just to get HALF the exes (counting full arts). -_-

Obviously they haven't confirmed the rarity yet. However, it appears, based on the Japanese sets, there will be full art and normal versions of the EX's. The normal versions will just be as rare as holofoils, while the full arts will have a rarity similar to the full arts in NV. Of course, this is just educated guessing, and we'll have to wait and see if this is right. I'm definitely not buying any Mewtwo until we see how rare they are.

Is people buying booster packs to get one specific super rare card an actual thing? I mean it has to be like a 1 in 50 chance to get a pack with a Mewtwo-EX. In the end it probably would be cheaper to just buy the one card separately, especially if a person has bad luck pulling good cards from packs.

There's kyurem, reshiram, and zekrom tins. Each of them come with the EX forms.

But do they come with Jumbo cards and awesome figurines?!

I want a Kyurem figure :'>

Not really. The only real exceptions to that is if someone is, say, buying a box and hoping to get several things, or they're judging and they get paid in packs as part of their service. (I fall into the second category.)

But usually, buying singles is a cheaper and more sure method.

I found images of EX 2012 tins sell sheet, and EX 2012 tins, and higher quality images of the Mewtwo figure and Mewtwo Colletion Box.

Seems like the EX tins won't have English-exclusive artwork. The tins look nice. They also give TCG fans an easy chance at the three EXs instead of getting them in packs. At this point, I'm kinda hoping I don't get Zekrom-EX in any packs because I'm really wanting this tin.
The Mewtwo figure looks nice. I'm not a fan of the dirt stuff he's standing on though. No regular Mewtwo-EX is a let down, but I will probably still pick it up.

The sell sheets reveal that both will be $15.99 each (I unfortunatly couldn't get a good picture of the Mewtwo box sell sheet). Finally, a lower priced tin!
