(1) Mewtwo EX from 'Psycho Drive' Revealed! [8/9]

It's a no-win situation for Creatures lab because of this kind of thinking, though. They bring in new mechanics (Legend, Prime/Great): people whine. They bring back an old mechanic with a twist (EX, ex power/Lv.X design): people whine.

Really, what does it take to make people happy? Hate to be the negative nancy and seeming to whine about the whining, but seriously.

I know it feels like that sometimes, but a lot of the times the complaining can be justified. Personally, I don't recall too much whining when Lv. X cards (or even Legend cards) were first revealed. I actually saw a large number of people on the forums praising them for taking the emphasis of the game off Ex cards, which at the time completely dominated the format. It's just when the game starts to revolve around these super crazy hitters like the Ex and Prime cards it takes a lot of the fun out.

Like I said in my earlier post, the key to implementing these super powered cards is to put them in the game in a way where they serve as maybe a late game secret weapon or trump card. That's why I think the Lv. X cards and Legend cards are the best way they have done this.

Wow! Love that artwork!
As for the HP, I think as this one-shotting crap isnt as fun as trading blows!

Can't wait to see the other EX's (and Emerging Powers of course)!

FINALLY... (the rocks voice)

Ive always thought even though mewtwo is a basic its always needed to have a ridiculous amount of hp. 15 years later I get my wish. when mewtwo came out in base set with 60 hp i was embarrassed to have it in my binder let alone call it my favorite pokemon. just for the fact that mewtwo (so far...) will be the owner of the highest health on a basic pokemon makes me happy regardless of the moveset (which isnt that shabby I might add... seems like a superpowered reshi that doesnt depend on damage on himself to do considerable damage to the defending pokemon for a DCE). this also probably means there will be another mewtwo in the set that is non EX with somewhere around 130-140 hp. sweet. and there is no better art. ever. (I am obviously biased so take that last part with a grain of salt)

EDIT: plus a basic that will take three shots from yanmega and make magnezone lost zone 4 energy is pretty scary I might add.
EDIT 2: GOD I"M SUPER EXCITED BRO!!!

Dosen't Wailord ex have the highest HP being 200? The artwork of the Mewtwo is incredible, though.

Wow..... All I have to say is....

He said highest HP of a basic
though I bet the dragons will have more :/

And @ Meaty
Wow. 70 more HP, 60 more damage for same energy cost, less retreat, completely and utterly outclassed. Funny what a power creep can do in 9 years.

(FOREVER ALONE)

Hahahaha, okay, this got me good. Poor Mewtwo ex.

(Though I concur with points made above, nice to see a Mewtwo with high HP for a change.)

I hope not... for once I want mewtwo to rule in this category... plus hes the face of this set alongside kyurem so I would expect him to come out on top.

EDIT: or at least come in equal.... but I REALLY want him to rule the roost... get his due as the ORIGINAL OG triple OG legendary.

It looks cool, I suppose. It's just crazy that the thing has almost three times as much HP as Base Set Mewtwo!

Also just realized, Rayquaza/Deoxys Legend will have a field day with this.

likewise mewtwo will as well. I see mewtwo getting set up much faster.

These cards look pretty cool. Why did they remove the prize rule though? They should have kept it XD.:)

Yea, but Rayquaza only needs to attack twice and the game is his, and my league leaders RDL deck can get out on turn 2-4 consistently. Usually turn 3, but I've seen turn 2 quite a bit too.

and xxashxx, they DID keep the prize rule.

Most times RDL is a later game addition in most decks and considering mewtwo EX is a basic legend of sorts it only takes one turn to put it down and slap a DCE on him for a quick and quite satisfying (at least by turn two) 120 damage on RDL. Your saying your league leader is gonna be able to take out two mewtwo EX's. By turn three for the win? And let's say he did take out one is he gonna have the necessary trainers/ emboar/ typhlosion setup FORSURE to kill the second one (by turn 3) too? This is all considering mewtwo never had any energy on it to begin with because it would pretty much be game over for RDL if it does. This is not just my mewtwo fanboyism peeking out its just my legit theorymon. Purely speedwise and as a more consistent attacker I see mewtwo taking more prizes even in the mirror match against RDL. I believe it outclasses RDL regardless of its power.

omg I must have that Mewtwo card!! I can't wait to see the others. Kyurem's is going to be boss, I can just feel it! >:D

Yeah I agree but don't think I will get it for awhile. I would probably get the jumbo cards before this one XD.:)

It COULD take out 2 Mewtwo EXs by turn 3 for the win is what I'm saying. Mewtwo may never even get a KO on Cleffa, neither player may draw into Catcher, it's a game of chance. And all I'm saying is, there's a chance RDL can take 6 prizes in 3 turns.

I won't take away its chance... Ill just call it slim.

One of the battle roads I went to, I had a Pidgeot out with Headwind. We called a judge over to ask if the wording on Headwind meant that retreating will erase that affect, since it says "each of the defending pokemon", making us thing that it would be all defending pokemon, no matter who was up. It would be erased, since according to the judge, the game's rules still accomodated for two active Pokemon. I was gone all throughout the Hoenn TCG era, so I don't know anything about using two active pokemon. With the new Mewtwo EX's attack X-Ball, does this mean that it will make a return? And if so, during tournaments, are they broken up into "single active" and "double active", all double, or will all tournaments be single? What was it back then?

And slim it may be, however, Mewtwo EX is 2 1/2 sets ahead, and its unfair to compare it to a current deck. Reshiram EX could make the new Reshiboar, and it could keep up Prize Exchange with Mewtwo until there's only 3 left. RDL taking 3 prizes in one turn is huge, it could really set you back. But also for all we know, Mewtwo might get his own acceleration. It's one card out of a set that we've seen nothing else of, so going deck vs deck at this point is, frankly, stupid.
