(1) Mewtwo's Details Revealed on 'Pokemon Smash' [9/17]

I will definitely be snagging one. I hope the unreleased move is Explosion, since it was nearly impossible to RNG in FR/LG.

Unknown attack???

And Psycho Break is called Psystrike in English.

EDIT: Mewtwo with Explosion what...

Very cool, I'll definetely try and trade for one of these

Wonder what the unknown move is going to be

I really, truly hope that this means the 15th movie will feature Mewtwo. I really do hope that.

But the fact that Mewtwo was featured in a set BEFORE the movie makes me know that it won't be in the 15th movie.

But then again, Pokemon Smash is showing Mewtwo Returns, not the original Mewtwo Strikes Back. THIS makes me think that a possible 15th movie would be a sequel to Mewtwo Returns. For those who have watched the movie, at the end, Mewtwo flees to a faraway city. In the shot where Mewtwo looks over the city, buildings similar to the Empire State Building and the MetLife building can be seen in the background, as in the picture shown below.

As you should know, Unova (which is mentioned as being far away from the other regions) is based off of New York City.
Did Mewtwo go to Unova? if so, that'd make sense for him to get an event, since we're in the BW phase right now.

But why would they release an event for Mewtwo BEFORE the movie?

I honestly want to see my hopes come true...but this pattern just points to the 15th movie NOT featuring Mewtwo.

Then again, only time will tell...hopefully it will be told correctly.

Mewtwo coulden't of fled to Unova because the 5th generation games weren't in the making back then. Game Freak starting making the games during the DIamond and Pearl era. Anyway this is a cool Distribution!

...please tell me you're kidding. They don't need to be in the making. Have you considered the fact that maybe it was brought up or something? Things like this happen all the time in video games, even in the pre-production; seemingly minor things occur/are suggested and are implemented much later or in the game or in sequels. They "weren't developed at the time", but they still made it.

Take Golden Sun, for example. Camelot tried to condense Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age into one game cartridge, but it was considered impossible at the time. When they realized it couldn't have been fit into one cartridge, they began to work on The Lost Age. They knew what they wanted for the second half of what was to be Golden Sun, but we didn't know that there was a second half planned for the first cartridge. This detail was revealed later on. Did we know they were working on Golden Sun 2 before the original was released? We didn't, since no announcements were made of it yet, since the original plan was for it all to be on one cartridge.

And really, why show Mewtwo Returns of the two movies that Mewtwo was in (Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon doesn't count)? If they really wanted to showcase Mewtwo like we think they're trying to do, wouldn't they show Mewtwo Strikes Back instead of the clearly inferior movie?

Now, keep in mind I'm NOT saying that I'm right. I'm not saying you're wrong, either. I'm just saying that you shouldn't base your point of view on such a silly thing.

At first I was happy to hear Mewtwo was getting Aura Sphere, but then I remembered it could already learn it. xD

I'm hoping the final move will be Nasty Plot, or something like that. If the "look at how cute I am!" Mew can learn it, the "most brutal-hearted Pokémon" should be able to learn it. :/

I had this sudden realization earlier. What if Mewtwo's unknown attack is one of the two secret attacks that Kyurem can learn? Freeze Shock and Ice Burn. Maybe the newest Japanese TCG set is a foreshadowing of some kind of event involving Kyurem and Mewtwo. Maybe a movie involving the two. Mewtwo would know Freeze Shock if you are playing White (Zekrom), and Ice Burn if you are playing Black (Reshiram).

I'm probably way off, but hey, you never know.

Seriously, most of gen V event pokémon haven't been released in the west, but the japanese just keep making more and more...

But why would they give Ice-type signature moves to Mewtwo instead of Kyurem? Anyway, further speculation on a possible Mewtwo movie, Unova is meant to be a recreation of gen 1-almost all of the new Pokemon from Unova have an extremely similar Kanto counterpart. As such, Mewtwo can be linked to Kyurem (sort of, I guess), hence why they brought back Mewtwo from 4 generations ago to star in his own set. If that is so, it would make sense for a cool Kyurem vs. Mewtwo showdown or something of the like in the next movie.

But I honestly don't think Game Freak or whoever will go back and call that city were Mewtwo fled to in that picture Unova and say Mewtwo fled to Unova... It just dosen't sound right.

Possibly because Mewtwo is "returning" to the TCG, and is featured as a mascot for a TCG set?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. It would be a neat twist to have an ice move, and what other reason would there be to hide a move unless it wasn't previously announced. I say you're right on, at least I hope.

This Mewtow sounds Pretty cool. So King's Rock increases the opponent's flinching? I never knew this could happen from this item. I thought this item was only for evolving Poliwhirl into Politoed and Slowpoke into Slowking. I never knew it could make your opponent flinch XD.:)

Oh my. I could see that coming true. That would be very scary in the Ubers tier. After one boost, it has almost 900 Special Attack, and Psystike makes Mewtwo very hard to counter.

And then we'll watch and see Mewtwo be only Adamant or Brave Nature, which would be a massive troll on Nintendo's part.

Why doesn't it sound right?

And where does it look like Mewtwo is going in the end? The same region that Kyurem is in.

This could arise the possibility that the still-unnamed Pokemon Gray could have Kyurem (as its mascot), plus Mewtwo on the side (as Mewtwo Returns shows it in an Unova-like region). This could also be supported by the figureheads of the two new TCG sets released recently in Japan - Kyurem EX and Mewtwo EX respectively.

I...actually didn't know that bit about Golden Sun, but it does make sense. However, to be honest, I do know that at the end of Golden Sun 1, they do hint at a sequel. It didn't come out for another 2 years, but still - the possibility did indeed exist. Sorta like how I knew there'd be a Golden Sun 4 before they even announced it - Dark Dawn's ending hints at a sequel.

Oh yeah, and the Mewtwo event is cool as well.

I really like that theory. Even if there's a chance it won't happen, hey, we've seen Mew return for a movie... Why not allow Mewtwo? I'd give more promotion to the guy. He's still widely popular with people knowledged in the ways of the old generations, I think it'd be worth the risk.

There's no doubt the Mewtwo being distributed is for the sole reason of the TCG... but on the note mentioned before, why couldn't he have fled to Unova? The writers can pull things out of nowhere when they feel like it.
Look at Ho-Oh... if my sources are correct, Ho-Oh was supposed to be an original take of Moltres, and what did they do? They made it a future link to the Johto (2nd Gen) games, even if that wasn't the original intent. Even Mewtwo Returns make for a good example, Mewtwo moved himself and his clones to the Johto region at the end of the 1st movie... but at the time, Johto didn't even exist. So if the writers can pull things like that off, why couldn't they suddenly stick Mewtwo in Unova? He ran off to some "far off" city... It would fit the bill quite well, and the sudden showing of Mewtwo Returns would be a nice refresher to that note. It can't be too forgotten if they're reshowing that special, eh?

...Also, calling that 4th move will be some random Dragon-type move. It's the only Type Mewtwo can't learn, if I'm correct, it sounds like something they'd do (a la Arceus, Darkrai stealing signature moves themselves).
Although I'd love Nasty Plot. That'd be crazy. :D

I guess the 4th move will be revealed on Sunday in Japan. Not sure if you guys already knew so I thought I should post in case no one knows. My prediction for the 4th move would be Dark Void but that so would be HAX big time. Although it would be great for a double Uber battle though.:)
