(1) Noctowl from 'HeartGold & SoulSilver' Revealed [1/27]

First post!

Wow. A new replacement of Claydol and Uxie. Funny thing is, we've already got a Dodrio who does the exact same thing. And he's a Rare. PUSA says, "D'oh!"

I wonder if we got any Leafeon vs Metagross cards? lol I doubt it but you never know. It would be awesome if we got rare candy XD

Since this is number 8, that means we'll be missing one of the following Pokemon (provided PUSA doesn't change the holos):
Arcanine
Azumarill
Gyarados
Hitmontop
Jumpluff
Ninetails
And it means that Cleffa and Clefable are confirmed. (Unless you honestly think they'd remove only one of them.) That also means that Tyrouge and Hitmontop are probably there, since they've already included two baby Pokemon + their evolutions...
Something to keep in mind, I suppose. I might try the three starters, later...

Also, it's a tournament, not a premier event.

EDIT: I'm guessing that Croconaw, Flaffy, Bayleef, Quilava, Donphan, Feraligatr, Meganium, Typhlosion, Ampharos and Blissey will have increased rarity or Clefairy will, since otherwise either Clefairy or Croconaw will be excluded.... It's probably the former. Oh well!

EDIT2: Oh, wow! There are 30 Pokemon where only 24 are allowed. This means 6 of the following will be removed, along with any of their evolutions: Drowzee, Exeggcute, Girafarig, Growlithe, Hoppip, Jigglypuff, Koffing, Ledyba, Magikarp, Mankey, Marill, Meowth, Natu, Paras, Poliwag, Remoraid, Sandshrew, Sentret, Slowpoke, Snubbull, Spearow, Spinarak, Stantler, Staryu and Sunkern
Also, alphabetized the previous list.

I agree the PR details were hard to find. But I already know two I'm attending nonetheless. The Noctowl's O.K. The power's decent, but like EspeonROX said we already have a Dodrio like that and nobody sues that so... It'll be great to use in a prerelease though!

Oh and yeah uncheck premier events, and keep torunaments checked. That's what PRs are counted as.

The card looks pretty cool and I like the art too. Pokemon.com should have all of their site links visible somewhere for easy access. Why have a site with hidden links? Sounds like they don't want everyone to know it is there.:)

Yeah, I ain't digging those energy symbols at all. They used to be a great tell for fakes but now...not so much.

Also WPM, you saw the set list floating around? Couldn't you post that on the main site?

You really don't even need it. Honestly, I've yet to ever stumble across a good, convincing fake. Some are better than others, sure. But they're still all terrible and easy to spot.

Yet they ARE great pointers to tell parents of little kids that the cards their kids have are fakes. For them its a lot harder to distinguish, the energy symbols always tipped me off earlier.

Yeah, when I spot fakes, the symbols are what tip me off, and then I inspect the other stuff. I hate those energy symbols also. I also hate the x2 weakness on EVERYTHING...

I hope this thread doesn't turn into, "THE NEW CARDS LOOK FAKE! OH NO!"
Also, what's wrong with the x2 weakness? That's what it always used to be.... (Also, resistance is -20 instead of -30, when it finally should be -30.... Irony, much?)

The only thing that looks fake about this card (imo) is... the illustration, really.
Kinda reminds me of... what was it... Cascade Gonpory(?)'s works. x3

I see nothing wrong or weird or whatever about the fonts or energy symbols or anything else. They all look the same as before to me. *shrugs*

...Anyways. This card is quite good.

The scans will be coming up on the main site soon enough that he doesn't really have to post the list.

Anyway, the Noctowl definitely sucks. It's the same as Dodrio. >__> Except this is actually worse because it's a Holo. I do like the artwork though...

dmaster out.

Dodrio was better because it could retreat for free. If I pulled this out of a pack, I'd be upset.

The only reason I don't like x2 weakness is because if you play against a deck you're weak to, you're matchup is more unfavorable right off the bat. With +10, +20, & +30, at least it isn't that big of a deal.

I've gotta say, after testing this bad boy out in my Gatr deck, it's borderline broken if you can have the same number of cards in your hand as your opponent. After the test battles I've had, I've collected between 1-3 prizes with it. Plus, with 90 HP, it sits RIGHT outside the OHKO range for Garchomp C X, so you can draw without fear. And DCE helps it out even more.
