I don't think you understand. Pokemon wasn't giving out anything before this.

Yes they were...
No they weren't...
Pokemon may have given things away in the distant past but not the previous past. We didn't get anything last season.

So you're saying that P!P didn't give us rewards last season for playing at league and earning P!P points? What was the point of earning them, then?

Edit: I thought CP applied to Nationals?

Nationals

Like everyone's going to get enough points to go to that, they might as well have handed the winners of these events a certificate or something instead of giving everyone the illusion that you could get something

You have to have 5PP to go to Nat's for Juniors and Seniors, or 10PP for Masters...
They have their reason.

I think camoclone is just missing the point spectacularly here.

Granted it's better than nothing, but the way the awards are proportioned is...well, rather odd.

~5 PP or more: Energy cards. Sure, that's okay.
~15 PP or more: Other promo cards (most likely misc trainer cards). Also okay.

It's the top-100 bit that's irritating. Only 300 players (the best 300 players, no less) will be getting a pack of sleeves, plus 2 'sought-after' trainer cards.
They probably already have plenty of each. They probably also have sleeves that don't get damaged easily either. Why not throw the sleeves in as a base reward for others (X PP or more)? I'd be down for that, and I opted out of the points completely. I may opt back in, though, now that they're finally giving out Player Rewards again. (That's the main reason why I opted out this year. There was no point.)

And because of the rather lackluster distribution of the sleeves, we get replies like this:

Oh Im complaining, because now its harder for small guys like me to get cool stuff in a game where its basically P2P

...which, in my opinion, are completely justified - because hey, he's right. The one with the most money wins. Granted in Pokemon the gap isn't as severe as it could be, but this definitely isn't helping.

I bet its gonna be catchers. Too bad, i would love to see beach
Yup, same here. But seriously, would they give out any Tropical promo as a player reward?

The eligible player with the highest Play! Point total in each age division will also receive Pokémon product for a full year. This will consist of two displays of each set released in 2013.
Two "displays" of each set? What do they mean by displays?

It's not the best 300 players that are getting those sleeves and "sought-after" Trainer cards. It's the 300 that go to the most tournaments. If you ARE as good as the people here are saying they would be, they would only need to go to enough tournaments to get the PP's to get a Nat's invite (5 or 10 depending on age group). You could just get the Worlds invite at Nat's.

Most likely the points were being tallied for your next rewards. TPCI probably had it planned awhile ago, but just waited until they finalized everything before posting about it.

@ECHOxLegend: All you are doing is whining or at least it seems so. It isn't that hard to get 15 Play! Points. If you go to a league, that gets you 8 Play! Points right there. If you go to your States that is another 3. Then you just need to get 4 more Play! Points. If anyone should be complaining, it should be people like myself who judge everything so won't earn the Play! Points. I always judge at states ( this year two of them ), Regionals, and the last three years, Nationals.

But you get professor points which is in a while different system in its self. I think it's fair if the players have one set of rewards and the judges have their own set. I don't think judges should get play points on top of everything else they earn.

I think we should all just stop complaining about free things!

Let me ask you a question, then.
Would you like to be given something for free if you already had plenty of it? (Ignore all other assumptions for the time being.)

I don't see why not. Something is better than nothing. I personally don't need anything but it is nice they offer it. I still fully agree that the awards are distributed unequally as I really want those sleeves but am probably not going to get them, but as far as I'm concerned complaining here is not going to accomplish anything.

Not true. No good player relies just on nats to get the invite. Also, if you look at the relationship between play points and CP's in the good players, most of the ones with a lot of CP's also have a ton of play points. It takes a lot more tournaments than you think to get an invite.

What about judges that actually want to play at Nationals then?

Looks great except I hate the Top 100 thing, it makes it vitually impossible for international players to get the sleeves and elusive trainers. They should've (in my own opinion) made it the top X (the same amounts of the top X for CP worlds invites as last year) per region (Australasia, US, Canada, ect.)

Still, I'm not really going to complain about free stuff, hopefully the promo packs of 4 have good cards and not something like the Gigalith cards :p

I think everyone that is complaining should rethink their logic. You feel entitled to get these rewards due to the past. I know the top 100 thing sucks, but oh well. Instead of complaining on the forums, send TPCI an email with your concerns. They do care about their players. But the point is that at least you are getting something for those points. I'm guessing they might fix it with the start of 2013/2014 season. Anyways, that is just my two cent; take it or leave it.

If only you knew how bad Pokmon Play! is at stocking the Professor store with cool stuff. I would much rather be playing than judging

Well I'm currently sitting at around 14 Play Points this season (don't laugh, I haven't been to the local league in forever ) so I will be enjoying some holo trainers and energy by the end of the season most likely. Free stuff is free, don't complain. :p
