(1) 'Plasma Storm' Theme Decks, Blister Packs [12/3]

Granted they messed up on Girtaina/Darkrai pretty badly with druddigon, but at least the alternate artwork for ninetails is pretty boss, Nuff Said.

in my opinion the theme decks should be magnezone and klinklang instead giratina and druddigon

you honestly believe such a miracle would occur?

It sounds like a really weird combination. Giratina, the legendary Pokemon, vs Druddigon, the (second-)weakest fully-evolved Dragon Pokemon (no idea how it compares to Altaria) that has absolutely nothing special about it.

Not only that, but Druddigon also needs 2 types of energy for full effectiveness while Giratina only needs 1 (and Giratina's is strictly superior, since it swaps 1 energy cost for a colorless cost, and has an added effect. In fact, the entire Giratina card is quite superior over Druddigon).

Lets just hope this is a joke, although it probably won't be one. I bet that in stores the Plasma Shadow deck is going to be rare.

Seems like they are having fun making one theme deck way more useful than the other lately.
Druddigon may be about as strong as a wet noodle but, it's hard to deny its cool factor. Love the online fan art. :D

Woah there, lets keep the insults out of this topic. What have wet noodles done wrong to you?

I really wanted Ghetsis and Colress decks. This is probably the most poorly done game character set yet.

...please don't tell me you're implying that 5ban graphics makes good art.

To be frank, Don is right. Most of them are bad, and 5ban Graphics' card illustrations lack imagination and life. If you want to try and go for a 3D effect, at least get Shizurow to do it. He knows how.

[sarcasm] no, Shizurow isn't my favorite artist; why do you ask [/sarcasm]

hrm, I seem to remember a ton of hype around collectors and FA EX's though... care to explain? (also the SR cards were done by them to and imo the artwork looks great, but to each his own I guess....)

The hype is that they're so darn hard to pull.

Firstly, a nugget of wisdom: avoiding absolutes will make us all [seem] smarter.:p

As for 5ban (I call it "Go-ban"), I've never been impressed. With the newer sets I've been thrilled to see 5ban taking a backseat to stronger artwork from artists with real names. I'm especially fond of entire evolutionary lines that share the same artist across each of the two or three cards in that line. The Emboar line in BCR by Nagasawa Shin in a shining example of how an artist can have fun doing the art for all three cards. I hope to see more of this in the future.

As for FA EX's, it's quite difficult to complain given the splendid quality of colors and etching given to the cards. Sure, the pose of the Pokemon may be uninteresting on some cards (here's looking at your Mewtwo), or do not appear as ferocious-looking as they do on the standard EX cards (seriously Raikou? I'm shaking in my boots here buddy). We can surely blame 5ban for that. Given the rarity and higher price to collect these cards though, I'm always happy to get my hands on one.

On this same note, it's always bothered me that Celebi appears to be smiling on its EX card but, frowning on it's Full Art. It honestly appears sad and weak-looking on its FA. :(
