I'm confused as to how severe of a hindrance the Faint Hearted ability is. I've been reading conflicting reports about it. Here's the 4 versions I'm getting:
1. Below 50% HP, Attack drops by 50%
2. Below 25% HP, Attack drops by 50%
3. Below 50% HP, Attack and Special Attack drop by 50%
4. Below 50% HP, drops all stats (except HP) by 50%
so...which one is it?
His ability is that weird "Faint-hearted" or whatever, but that's only a slight drop in Atk.
Slight Attack drop? If the ability activates, you're essentially left with a Pokemon that has base 70 Attack - as "powerful" as a Persian.
The problem with Archaeos is that its base defenses and typing make for such a poor defensive combination that it will probably take only 1 hit, even if it's resisted, to bring it under 50% HP. Archaeos also has a barren special movepool, so it can't even really fall back on its great Special Attack.
Archaeos is even more of a glass cannon than Alakazam. It's fast and incredibly powerful but just 1 hit renders it practically useless even if it doesn't KO. You have to never take damage to get good mileage out of him.
I am not a fan of hindering abilities because they are usually TOO good at hindering the Pokemon and end up making them almost useless (Slaking and Regigigas). I hope Archaeos can change that.
