(1) Pokemon X and Y Announced! [1/8]

Eh, they promised a worldwide release, I doubt that Japan would even be one day ahead of us (since they've been working on this for "7 years") Given the info you provided, I'd say we might actually get the games on Monday or Wednesday, possibly even Tuesday. That way it would be something new for everyone.

They said worldwide during October no one promised its going to be in the same day.

Not that it matters to me. its going to take at least a month until it will come to Israel :(

Yes that's true but the thing is, how can a release be "simultaneous" if they don't release the games in the same day?

You know what would be awesome?

We have 2 versions of Nidoran based on gender, who evolve into separate pokemon.

We have region based shellos.

Chess always has 2 sides, a white side, and a black side, and we have Pawniard, based off the black pawn. It would be cool if X and Y introduced the white pawn. This white pawn evolves into the white knight, and evolves into the king, while bisharp evolves into the queen. I couldn't figure out a cool pokemon design for the rook, but it worked well for digimon (see Rookchessmon).

This white pawn will still be called pawniard, but will be part steel part psychic, or whatever type that is supposed to represent good, as Dark means evil.

Not only Pawniard, but other pokemon can have 2 different versions based on some geographical, gender, or some other barrier, to give it diversity, if you know what I mean.

you know, Pawniard and Bisharp are not really based on chess pieces. They are based on japanese typical villains (like in kaijin movies or the kamen rider series)... English names can be deceiveful.

True, but could they still do something more with this Japanese villain theme to parallel the English chess theme?

They choose pawn and bishop because they're the only 2 chess figures that are related. As a pawn can be promoted to a bishop.

I won't rule out an alt.evo or counterparts etc to those two,
but I doubt they'll be any more chess related than these.

I just hope the english names don't get weird if they decide to add pokemon that actually resemble chess pieces.
Like how pidgey is named after a pigeon when there was actually a pigeon based pokemon added later.

Agreed, except for the fact that a pawn can also be promoted to a Rook or Queen if I'm not mistaken (I think it can be promoted into a knight too, but I'm not sure). The pokemon aren't based off chess pieces anyways so it doesn't really matter.

But bishops aren't the only pieces pawns can be promoted to, they could be promoted to any piece in the game except king. They likely chose bishop because the piece's design most resembles that of a pawn.

A pawn can be promoted to any piece on the board except king, hence, we could indeed have those three as alt evos.

Arrgh English translation.

Not only that, but I was suggesting they do something where there are different coloration of the same pokemon beyond the shiny, and they should do it with more pokemon rather than one-ish per generation.
