(2) Everyone's Pokemon Ranch Released [6/9]

Its not BAD but theres not much to it either, besides the mew and phione (assuming we're gonna get them), its only worth the laughs with the pokemon attacking each other and chasing ranch owners from time to time

It said that I can download Ranch at anytime, so I turned off the Wii, and turned it back on. Then went thru Wii Shop (again) and tried to download it (it was free, thank god) but it had the exact same problem.

I am not sure of the credit card I used. It may be near its limit, but I used it anyway, and I was able to purchase the Wii points, so I thought it was good. Could the problem be that when I go to use the Wii points is when the system charges me for the points? Just a thought.

Its your Wii, I used to have that problem before, you just need to make as much space between your wii and router as much as you can, me however, my friends did something to it to make the signal strong no matter where I am in the house, but still, it needs a good shot at the router.
Don't ask me what they did to the Wii i'm not sure myself, I once had to hold the Wii in an akward psoition because the signal was stronger strangley

does pokemon ranch level your pokemon for you? I am considering getting the game but it doesn't seem worth it to me

No, that would just be convenient

This sounds pretty cool. I wish I had a Wii right now.:)

I must say that I was rather disappointed by this. I was expecting something more along the lines of Pokémon Box for the newer generations. The fact that Pokémon can only be transfered back and forth between the same save file in DP greatly limits the potential of this game (more of a utility) for me. I was reading some threads over at GameFAQs, and it seems as though if you reset the game that you transfered the Pokémon from, your Pokémon are permanently stuck on My Pokémon Ranch.

I liked Pokémon Box because it can be used for easily transferring Pokémon from one cart to save up space, and to compare the Pokémon easily using the table (like the ones in Stadium and Stadium 2). Now, if I want to restart a game that I have done a lot on, I have to trade the Pokémon, one by one, over to another cartridge in order to reset the game. With Pokémon Box, this could all be done in a few steps. With My Pokémon Ranch, it is limited more to an extension of the PC in each game, without the ability to transfer between saves.

What will happen when people think they can back up their Shining Pokémon and teams onto My Pokémon Ranch, only to find out that they can never be used for battle again when they reset their cartridge? I think there will be a good number of people that will make this mistake and be very unhappy about it.

If this game was a new version of Pokémon Box, it would have been a no-brainer for me to shell out the $10 to buy this game. Now, I am refusing to buy it because of this major oversight. As a bare minimum, there should be a way to release Pokémon from the Ranch, but far more importantly, as described above, a way to transfer between games, even if it means obtaining the National Dex or a certain number of Pokémon before being able to transfer.

In a case where you reset your game by accident or you lose your game cartridge, you can always have someone with an Action Replay change your Trainer ID to match the old one. That's probably the only good thing about an AR.

That might work, but there is another problem that will most likely pop up.

In addition to the trainer ID that you are given when you start a new game, there is a secret trainer ID that is also issued. Meowth346 noted a while ago during the Ruby and Sapphire days that Pokémon that are transfered to another game pack with the same trainer ID, name, and gender would still gain boosted experience and not obey the trainer if it is leveled beyond what the highest badge permitted. If My Pokémon Ranch checks this, then the only way to even be able to transfer the Pokémon back is to not only know what the trainer ID is, but also use an AR on the game save before starting over to know what the secret trainer ID is.

Soooo disapointing. so mew costs 10$bucks and thats all....

I grow attached to my Trainer and my game save though. I've never restarted a Pokémon game, and I was never even aware people used Pokémon Box for that. The fact that you can no longer do that for My Pokémon Ranch means Nintendo didn't intend for that use of the Pokémon supplementary storage programs.

I'll eventually get it though, since I love all the visual touches done for it.
