Seriously... what is that.
I miss SP lol. It wasn't that bad.
Honestly so do I. Even though it wasn't great on the diversity aspect, the matches were very skillbased and luck was less important. There were still a ton of decks that were viable too, and even more different versions of those decks, and a huge list of techs that could be put in decks that would hugely alter how they're played.
Gyarados SF
Kingdra LA/UL
Machamp SF
Flygon - Flygon/Machamp, Flygon/Palkia Lv. X Lock, Flygon/Donphan
Blazeray
LuxChomp
Sablelock
Garchomp C Toolbox
Luxray GL Toolbox
DialgaChomp
Gengar SF/Garchomp C
Jumpluff
These weren't all in the same format, but they were all out at the same time as SP. Even though a good number of the decks above are SP, there was a good amount of diversity. There was also a huge number of possible rogue decks, like Mightyenna/Skuntank G and things like that, which saw decent amounts of success.
The DP-On format was my favorite (and first) format to play in, and still is. Maybe that's because I haven't played for that long, but it's definitely not as bad as many people claim it was. It was certainly better than our current format. SP was a scapegoat that people blamed all their problems on, especially the fact that it was "expensive", even though you could play anything other than LuxChomp for fairly cheap.
Anyway, I'd be happy to see an incarnation of SP return, but I don't know how they'd balance it without making the good cards LV.X's. (Although I'd love to see LV.X's come back, too.)
