2012 Olympics: Views?

The only thing England has is soccer. It's the life, blood and soul of the country "across the pond".

It could do great. Paris is only 2.5 hours away by Eurostar.

All they have is Rooney. They don't have beckham, and aren't a championship contender. I'm surprised they'd put it in england since Soccer is the only good sport.

What Olympic sports are popular in America?

Yea, China struggled preparing, and I personally thought the Opening Show was Amazingly Beautiful!

About all of them. Track, Swimming, Gymnastics, Soccer, etc....

It was amazingly bad imho. And I am not referring to the 'voice theft', but more to the whole "Look at us etc. etc." facade.

The U.S men's basketball team might win the Gold Medal again, but it depends on how many players are still in the NBA and willing to play in the Olympics.

I know, the whole thing about them thinking the little girl wasn't beautiful enough to sing. Anyway, I thought the whole show was rather good.

Soccer....SOCCER! If you're talking about english people and stuff, at least say football...

WHICH you stole from us (American Football) which is Rugby (english) with football (the name) and you can pick it up and kick it.

Pretty pointless <_<

Americans will NEVER embrace soccer. True, they beat the best country (Spain), but that's not enough to get the whole nation hooked on it.

Accoriding to FIFA, Spain was the top-ranked soccer team in the world. Still, soccer is an awful, boring sport. Next to tennis, of course.

^Wins the thread. Then again, any sport that involves chasing a ball or beating the crap out of each other is boring.

What are you guyz on about? We have a great tennis player ranked number 3 (murray) have the best football teams in the world namingly (Manu, chelsea, liverpool and arsenal), even our england football team are doing fine. We have a great cricket team as well, so I dont see any point both of you saying what you said.

So we have the third best tennis player? Federer (Switzerland) and Nadal (Spain) are better than Murray. And Roddick is better. He took Federer to 5 sets, making the 5th set a marathon.

Still. Soccer and Tennis. Sorry, but America will never fully embrace you.

Which is we have our own styles of your sports. Namely football being our version of European soccer.

Well your just putting up a sad argument. Murray is better than roddick. America has embraced tennis and I believe soccer as well

Yeah, soccer is pretty big here, just not on TV if that makes sense 0.o I'm not a serious soccer player, only doing it to hang out with my friends, but most of the ppl on my team are on at least 3 other teams, and I know my neighbor is on 7, so I wouldn't consider us not "embracing" it because alot of ppl I know play the sport, just not as commercialized as other countries.
