Woohoo there's hope for the franchise now. No more ripoffs from old generations like what happened in Gen IV. New monsters all the way till post-National dex. YES. Everything's new
And the 3D models of Reshiram and Zekrom are really nice. Especially the generator tail with the rotating generator with all of the blue glow and sparks. =P
But about the part of old fans getting turned off. Gamefreak's intention was for players, both old and new, to experience Pokemon in a totally refreshed dimension like in the Red and Blue days. Dunno whether it'll work though. I think it'll for me. But not for those who're nostalgia maniacs. Can't they just let go of the old ones for a bit and stop moaning so much?
Try the game first before anybody (if any) starts to complain again about how the new peeps suck and how the old ones rock. It's going to be pointless if people still continue to compare games between each generation. Obviously anybody who does so would most probably say that Gen 1 or 2 were the "most original". Why? Cos these old generations had NO predecessors to compare from. So they were obviously new and "original". Then people started to compare new generations with old ones and say that "hey they copied this and that" and "hey that's unoriginal". No matter how they create or design the new Pokemon, people will definitely draw similarities between the old and new (no matter how similar of different they actually are) and start to rant about Pokemon's going down the slope again.
But all because Gen 3 came into the picture and broke compatibility with the old ones BECAUSE OF HARDWARE LIMITATIONS they start to say that Gamefreak's beginning to suck. I'm sure that if they could connect all of those 3 gens back then together they surely would. But because of all of the vastly different programming methods involved in the first 2 gens and the third they couldn't. So I'm not so sure why people still complain about RSE. It seriously had the best soundtrack for a Pokemon game for the GBA's capabilities back then.
Yes every single generation was good in one sense, but bad in the other (for various reasons). Like Gen I had little variety as compared to the others, Gen II had a heavily-modified and cut-short version of Kanto which was kind of a sad thing for Red-Blue fans, Gen III had its compatibility cut off from the previous two due to hardware limitations in programming, Gen IV's (DPPt) soundtrack still sounded like GBA standard music, and Gen V's breaking of the Arceus-is-the-final-God-Pokemon barrier. But we should learn to look things in a more positive way, like Gen I was the one which started Pokemon, Gen II introduced full colour to the franchise, Gen III had the best soundtrack and had Pokemon Contests, Gen IV had a more complicated and deeper plot, and Gen V presented Pokemon in its best graphical form (3D, moving sprites, varying camera angles) so far.
Yea, so this is just my opinion. And sorry for the ranting.
But to me Gen V's going to be the truly revolutionizing series in the franchise.
