Holy Christ on a cracker that card is horrifying
This is the perfect example of what not to do when making a good custom blank. All the changes are completely nonsensical. The Stage text being the only vertical text on the card is dumb. The text isn't fully justified, making it automatically look unprofessional - like a pianist hitting a wrong note, the rest of the song can be perfect but that one wrong part sticks out like a sore thumb. The height and weight aren't even lined up, like they literally just hit center justify and started typing.
Your eyes have to zigzag all across the card just to get the important information. The art space is oddly shaped for no reason at all - it doesn't change anything or make things cleaner, it's just changed for the sake of being changed. The arguably least important part of the card, the bottom stats, set number, illustration, and flavor text, are all predominantly featured front and center, because reasons.
Pone touched on a few other reasons why I hate this card, like wasted space and how the lack of borders makes this thing look even more like an eyesore. I'm surprised the artist actually left the evocon in the upper left corner.
It's not a coincidence that TPCi only had the evocon in the middle for a brief time and why they switched to the Japanese way of ordering Energy symbols starting in gen 3. Their card aesthetics, generally, have been spot on since Base Set and why they've only made minor changes since DP. You don't fix what isn't broken. I can appreciate the work that went into it, but it's a visual nightmare to me.
I've mentioned this before, but I actually really like Omnium outside of the adherence to classic-style attacks. I enjoy that it supports all gimmicks without sacrificing card space and everything looks clean and well-organized. Requiring absurd-res size artwork is kind of sucky and I also think Acid Wash is a trash foil but as for the blank itself, it's as close to perfect as a custom blank can get. I guess if I had to offer some criticism, it's that everything looks a bit too uniform. Like in AGE, for cards that are both Delta Species and Ultra Beasts, both are different colors to be able to tell at a glance what they are.
