3DS Discussion Thread

Ohman, super excited for that. My husband is also a huge Zelda fan, especially for Majora's Mask, so he'll be dancing for joy for sure.

Now that is one 3DS release that really gets me excited. Majora's Mask is simply amazing (as are 90% of Zelda games), and if they do as fine a job as with OoT 3D, it will totally be worth it.

It really was a matter of when, not if for Majora's Mask to come out for the 3DS. I've seen people clamor for it for really the last couple years after OoT 3D came out, and it was honestly not too much of a surprise, or at least the announcement itself wasn't. In fact, I'm really more surprised it hasn't already come out, but I'm pleased that the 3DS is going in with some momentum early next year with this title as well as S.T.E.A.M.

dmaster out.

I have no idea why they held off for so long. How long has it been since OoT3D? Almost three years (by spring)?

Basically all of the assets were there. :L

Priorities? I completely understand what your getting at, but I think now is a good time for it to be released. With Skyward sword coming out soon and them starting on 2013's Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker HD (and now zelda u) They had a lot to work on. Also, another reason it may not have come out sooner was to patch up some parts of the game, as they said in the direct, so that it retains the same feel of the original but also caters for new players. And didn't the 3DS JUST come out like a week or two before OoT3D? It would've been pretty bold of them to release Oot and MM remakes so close together expecting enough people to buy them both.

Hi question;

I'm thinkin of buying the new Smash 3DS, but I have a lot of Streetpass and other data on my current 3DS, is there a way for me to buy the New 3DS then transfer the data from my old 3DS to the new one, and THEN sell my old 3DS?

Thanks!

Yes. You do the 3DS transfer data thing in your options so that way your SD card will be readable on your new 3DS then buy a new SD card for games and use the other for your games. Remember you can re download your eshop games free but re-download on your old 3DS first onto your new SAD card before you do the transfers of the 3DS because I am not sure if eshop data is transferable since the eshop free download after you buy is only for the 3DS that you made your account for. If it were me I would buy the 2nd 3DS and use the old one for street pass etc and the new ones for your games. That would be better XD. This way if your old one dies you still have a 3DS.:)

System Settings->Other Settings->Page 3->System Transfer

That will send your 3DS data to a new device. As for SD Cards, just switch them.

SD cards are a seperate thing right? Because I'm pretty sure I don't have any/didn't buy any.

My 3DS came with a standard 2GB SD card, and I imagine most 3DS are sold alongside it, unless they dropped the practice since I bought mine for reasons I cannot even think of.

I'm fairly certain that all regular 3DS (I don't know about 3DS XL or 2DS) include a 2 GB SD card in a covered slot on the left side of the device. You can pull off the cover and remove the SD card (make sure the device) and then use it as necessary.

The New 3DS apparently includes a Micro SD card instead, which has a slot behind the bottom (rear) cover.

Mine came with a 4GB SD card and I got the 3DS XL but as I said yesterday I don't think you can transfer the eshop data as I mentioned in yesterdays post.. When you buy your 3DS it should have came with a card or your street pass and or other data can't be saved. If you downloaded any games they go to your SD card and same goes for game patches etc.:)

Physical vs Digital games?

Hey Guys,:)

So a few days ago i pre-ordered a physical copy Pokémon Alpha Sapphire... for a price of 44,95 Euro's. (No steelcage version)

But today i saw there was still some currency in my E-Shop account (25 euro's to be exact)

So i wondered if it was a good idea to cancel the physical copy and buy an extra E-shop card of 25 bucks and purchase a digital copy on the release date itself?

But what are the pro's and con's of buying a digital version of the game? Will i be able to download it on a extra 2/3DS? And if i ever accidentally logged out my Nintendo account? Will i still be able to download it again if needed?:p

Thanks in advance:)

RE: Physical vs Digital games?

You can transfer games and other data to a different 3DS, but it's a permanent transfer, like something you would do if you're switching to a new 3DS and selling the old one, or whatever. You won't just be able to just download and use the game on a second 3DS because you feel like it, or loan it to friends, or anything like that.

This is one of the main reasons why I prefer physical games to digital. My husband and I each have our "own" 3DS but there are digital games that we have on each (FE:A on one because it's the FE design 3DSXL, and Dual Destinies and the new Trozei on the other because they're download only), so we swap 3DSes back and forth depending on who's playing what game.

Really, the best things about download copies are that you don't have to leave your house to get them, and you can download and play ASAP. In your case, you also have €25 of credit that you can put towards the game, too, though you could use those €25 for other things if you wanted to, too.

RE: Physical vs Digital games?

I will buy the digital games. Solely due to the fact that by doing that I prevent the annoying situation of accidentally pushing out the cartridge when the game is on. This thing used to happen to me a lot for example when I was playing the DS in the bus and had to put it in my pocket for a moment in order to go down at my station and then when I took the DS back from my pocket I looked on my cartridge outside of the DS. That frustration..

There aren't really solid cons and pros on buying digital or physical copy. It's eventually comes down to personal preference and specific needs.

About that transfering... If i transfer say, my game from my 3DS to a possible other 2DS... Would the one owning a 2DS be able to download it as much as possible, like if the one with the 2DS had actually bought it himself?

Also.. I kind of travel alot these days, Say if i lose my 3DS... And i would be buying a new one... Would i be able to download my game on that newly bought 3DS with the same Nintendo account?

Keep your hard copy when you get it because if something happens to your 3DS it is long gone from the eshop and you will have to buy the game again unless you transfer 3DS data before your 3DS dies and if it is dying then get a new 3DS before it dies or you will loose your digital copy.:)

The 3DS came out three months before OoT3D. And it was really the first BIG game (which is actually kind of bad, lol.) The early drought was bad.

You've got a point, but I still feel they could have release it earlier. Especially since the teams working on new Zelda titles and the team who make the 3D remasters are different. (Unless GREZZO has a massive overlap.) 2012 was open for it, with no Zelda games releasing on handheld or console for the year. It was cool to get Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D -- in fact, I much prefer that over Majora -- but GREZZO definitely could have focused on getting the second Zelda of the N64 pair out first. It ended up getting so much hinting and teasing that the reveal was a bit... "Eh? Okay." If we didn't all expect it it would have been cooler. But the only way to have us not expect it would have been an earlier release.

Or to have Aonuma stop hinting at it. That was silly of him if they knew how late it was to release.

Basically it's just a stupid time thing that bugs me for no good reason. :L

Apparently, Majora's Mask 3D started in development after OoT 3D came out. So it's basically been worked on for the past three+ years (it will probably be closer to four after it's all said and done next year). If you combine that with the fact that Aonuma has said "This is not going to be just another remake," and that gives some credible evidence for why it hasn't come out earlier. With that kind of development time and apparently new additions to the game (?), I have pretty high hopes for the content in the game. It would be a shame that they spent all that time on it if it turns out bad or doesn't sell well.

dmaster out.
