(4) Missing Binder, Future Pokemon Card Art, Worlds Competitor Package, Worlds Lucario [8/18]

I figured out something about raichu's illustration...it looks like where it says raichu and his illustrator it is gold, like the char's were in DP6, just a thought...:D

I really wish I had that lucario shirt right now >_< it would also suck if something went missing and no one returned it, I hope there are no pokemon fans like that because that would not be nice.

This is one reason why I don't go to events as well. People steal things. >...> Hope you get it back.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you did. Nice job.

dmaster out.

Can you soft reset for Lucario like other events and did it come with a Wonder Card?
You can soft-reset for IVs, but not shinyness or nature.

I'm glad sugimori is actualy putting some effort into the TCG again (assuming it was even him doing the cards before). His pokemon drawings are so good that it's a shame to butcher them they way they are currently. The rotom certainly looks great.

For anyone curious about why the distribution of lucario was not wireless like normal; it's probably because the ROM of the wireless distribution cartridge got dumped during the Gamestop event. Now that the general public has it and can hack it, it's quite easy make your own distributions. Nintendo wouldn't wanna risk using wifi anymore when some guy in the crowd could be sending out bad eggs, ect.

RE: (4) Missing Binder, Future Pokemon Card Art, Worlds Competitor Package, Worlds Lu

I stand corrected. Well done to your friend for finding the binders.

"Side note: It looks like Ken Sugimori is practicing a new card art style instead of his typical "stock Pokemon footage placed over blurred photograph." He already started to change his style in the past few sets with his Trainer artwork, as seen on cards like Fieldworker and Cynthia's Feelings, and it appears he is going even further now with his Pokemon artwork."

Umm, didn't he use a similar style for all his supporters, even the once in old sets like the Neo Sets, Gym Leader sets and even earlier as well? I wouldn't exactly say he started changing it a few sets ago, If that was what you meant.

So you actually went 4-3 or 5-2 at the Grinder playing Empozong? Pretty good! Congratz!

Ohh I loved the cap and the towel! So wonderful. Have for sell eBay or similars?
Hey people, it´s so ugly and bad to keep things that aren´t yours. Please return it for the owner and be well with yourself. Be nice is sooo good!

There was a time when Sugimori DID do a whole lot of non-lazy stuff for the TCG, which was during the Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, and Gym Challenge sets. That Rotom, if you ask me, looks very much like it came from there. It's got the high-contrast solid colors and the chaotic layout that characterized the Trainer card illustrations during then. I like it, but there are still plenty of illustrators I prefer for the TCG. I mean...Atsuko Nishida can find time to design Pokémon for the games AND be one of the most prolific TCG artists.

By the way, Sugimori moved away from Copic markers long ago. His illustrations, beginning with those for Ruby/Sapphire, were done in Photoshop or GIMP. It's a simple matter of scanning in the penciling or inking, filling in solid colors, then putting in three to four layers of blurred shading. In a way, this is even lazier than before, but I do like the more controlled shading.

There isn't a single illustrator for the TCG anymore who still does non-digital 2-D artwork, however. On the flip side, that means there's nothing to lose from the Birthday Pikachu breaking.

I'm a fan of Tomokazu Komiya's work, and I'm a bit let down that he's getting peer-pressured into subduing his abstract style. I think he's at his happiest when they look all funky and "melty," and he was absolutely in his element drawing Pokémon who have this trait, like Grimer and Slugma. Nevertheless, I'm still glad he managed to gain a foothold into the illustration scene long enough to have gone this far. Very few of the illustrators have been around for as long as him.

Congrats on getting the binder back, and with everything absolutely intact. I remember I made the mistake of leaving my box where I keep my Trainer cards at the table where there were glasses of water at a tournament two years ago. A middle-aged woman was sitting there, so I trusted no one would try to take stuff from there. Man, I was wrong. Some kid went by without me watching and helped him- or herself to all of the Trainer cards I wasn't using that had some use. More recently, I also had a spare Gallade stolen from me. I kept it in the tin I keep my deck in if anybody wanted to trade for it, as I have no plans of using Gallade and happened to find one in a Secret Wonders pack.
