Do u think it is weird if people are playing pokemon at the age of 40?

There is no reason why not. Except for the Anime, in my opinion... but the games...

The TCG and the console games are both strategical games. It makes you think, which gives your mind some exercise. So there is no reason not to, unless you're in a society where thinking is frowned upon...

It's a little weird, but it's not that bad. Pokemon does present itself as more childish than it really is, but I guess older folks see past that enough to get into it - not to mention some people start liking it because their kids do.

That's ok, but my mother thinks that pokemon is so childish, she wants me to quit when I'm 13, and I'm turning 12 this year, but I will not quit !!!

Make a logical arguement against it. If it's the "childish" arguement, ask to why you should, because strategising is never childish. If's it finacial troubles... you'll probably have to give up.

You should just do what makes you happy. Obviously if you're over 40 (or indeed 12) then you're bound to get a few strange looks if people see you playing pokemon (although this mainly applies to the cards and anime... people are generally ok with the games, for some reason).

Happiness is what being human is about. Everything we do is based upon it, every move we make and everything we think is revolving around being happy in some way or another. So yeah, if you like pokemon, play it. But:

Pokemon hapiness - Social sadness = net emotion

If social sadness is a greater number than pokey hapiness, then your net emotion is negative, which isn't great. In such a case you should probably give up, because you'll be happier in giving up pokemon rather than continueing to play/watch it. This principle is called the conservation of hapiness, something which I felt like... making up :p

But it makes sense when you think about it!

You know all age ranges find something diffrent in the pokemon games that they like.... i started to play back when i was 12 when base set came out and played for a solid 3 years or so and then moved on to a different card game that was really great, just the company could not support it and went under :( God bless Magi-Nation Duel card game!!! :D but like i was saying i liked pokemon because i loved the little creatures and found it fun building decks and matching my wit verses another... but now some 6 years later and on the edge of my 21st birthday i have came back to the tcg world that had been a memory of my past and i love every minute of it!!! i still love making decks!!! if you have to stop playing for any reason that doesn't mean you have to stop playing forever.... i stopped to play another game and then after that moved on into the rest of my life (collage, work, ect) but now i'm back!!! just remember pokemon is seen as childish and thats the hardest part to make people understand... so don't try to make them understand just explain to them why you love it and don't try to make them see it your way because in the end some never will :D have fun with the game because thats what your suppose to do, don't make it into anything but that and that is how you will avoid the weird glances and comments.... "yeah i play pokemon, its pretty fun and easy to learn would you like to try?" start with something like this when you run into someone not familar with the game or someone who only knows the childish cartoon and just maybe they might see the true fun in silly little cardboard monsters :D :D :D

Of course it is ok. I mean there is no age limit or anything. I may only be 18 now but I would like to think that in the future I will play pokemon if I want to. How can I suddenly say I like pokemon and then the following day say I am too old and totally give it up?

Even at 14 years old, Pokemon is considered a "child's game" at the school I went to last year. Such is not the case compared to older people playing it. I have a friend who I used to play with, and whoever comes around with their "I can't believe you still play that, it's for kids" notion, my most common counter is, "People older than myself play it", or, "Why do you care?" Then again... There's no telling what that person does that someone else would consider "something a child would do". In other words, he/she might be a hypocrite, sad enough, and there are those (yes, I am stereotyping again :p) kind of people all around the world.

Shawn out.

Games- Yes ! No age limit (but be over 6)
Anime- What are you nuts ? No, that would be wrong

So, yeah, it's only natural that someone would do what they love for this long

If any person in the right mind of any age enjoys paticapating in a legal activity that is not abused, then, in no case can it be considered to be inapropriate, immoral, immature and or unrealistic. As such, any person, doing any legal, unabusive thing, cannot be frowned appon umless in a sence of prejudice, which itself is frowned upon. This is the way things always have been and will be to that perticluar person and we or any one else, has no right to deny them full respect due to an activity we choose not to particapate in. If at any such time an event of this intent, or with simalarity to this event occurs, it is the privallage of the particapant to know full well, that they are the same as their opposite minded college, simply with a better morale, more respect and a different set of joys in life.

The only people over 40 that play Pokemon are Parents with kids and/or relatives that play the game.

It's common sense. Unless maybe you’re in some group with 40 something’s.

Oh and to answers that age old question: ~it’s a kids game, why play it~ : The game is mostly geared towards kids that still doesn't make it a kid’s game. Seriously though, there are not a lot of players in the Seniors Divisions.

I'd like to reiterate what Andyman said about the TCG being a kid's game. The 15+ division (whatever it's called now, I'm not savvy to the new lingo) is consistently the largest division. That alone is irrefutable proof that Pokemon is for all ages. I'd bet money that if official tournaments are divided into age groups, 15+ would be much larger than the others, maybe even combined.

I'm 21. I've been playing since the beginning, and there's no way I'm stopping any time soon.

Or you could hide the fact that you play/watch pokemon. Pretend to be different. It's a bit difficult, but you get used to it (yes, I do that[wait, no I don't watch the anime. it's really cursi sometimes])

also, it may happen that that guy joined some years ago, then left, but his/her account wasn't erased or whatever.

Oh fine, you can hide it too. But keep in mind that a 40 year old playing pokemon sticks out like a polar bear in the sahara, in which case the conservation of happiness principle continues to work. Depending on how well it's hidden, in which case:

PokeyHappiness - ((1 - HidingAbility) x SocialSadness) = net emotion

Where hiding ability is a variable ranging from 0 to 1.

...

Oh don't give me that look.

it is fine really! if it makes you happy than whats a few strange looks from your peers! ( im 32 and i LOVE POKEMON!!!)
