So lately i have been wanting to build a deck around status conditions and there aren't many seeing as Skuntank G was (is getting?) rotated out along with Miasma Valley for that extra damage among a few others that i cant think of off the top of my head that were in the Platinum series. at any rate here is a list of Pokemon that I have dug up that might work well together.

The goal is to build a competitive deck that can keep up with the Meta-Game and still have that element of casual play that some of us enjoy.

Leafeon UD with Eevee UD (Call for Family)
Celebi PRIME
Venomoth TR
Roserade UL
Seviper CL

I would like to hear thoughts on any of the listed pokemon and how we can build a deck around these as well as some techs that could be used to speed it up, Counter, etc. The deck would kind of be based around Leafeon's Miasma Wind attack and Seviper could be a back up attacker. Venomoth would most certainl be a Bench sitter and Celebi would have to shift quite a bit.

The only real issue I see atm is retreat cost and that could be solved with Dodrio with it's Retreat Aide power.

So there it is.

Victrebell TR is the best status pokemon right now imo... it burns, poisons, heals, and makes the opponent pay 2 colorless more to retreat.

these are some good suggestions so far. What about trainers, other than the obvious PONT, Collector, Communication, ect. to help get more out of the deck. Also a list of decent techs would help alot.

Well I'd say when catcher comes out thats a given.. pull up the high retreaters and then status em. but without bts and with a nerfed candy, its not so easy to seeker up vileplume, play trainers, then put vile back, because trainer lock is the best way to play with statuses, no switches or life herbs.

good point. although i HATE catcher and would not want it played against me, i may have to with this deck. also got done with a bit of play testing with an inital list and im pretty sure that im going to drop the moths and vipers simply because they did not see any play and sat on the bench the whole time.

the initial pokemon line up is:

4-3 Leafeon UD
2 Cleffa
2 Seviper
2-2 Venomoth
2 Celebi Prime
2 Shaymin UL

I was thinking that Zoroark or somthing else with a decent attack would fit in here at first but after some consideration maybe Weezing, Muk, Nidoqueen (for Prize Count) and Xatu, all for the Machamp Matchups. The way this deck is now, it can easly take lower tier decks, but I'm pretty sure that it wont do much against T1 decks. as it stands now its an auto-loss to Fire variants.

so im just curious as to if any one has any further ideas? Im still looking into the viability of a status deck and I know that the center will be Roserade, Leafon and Celebi Prime, but i need a bit more help in figureing this out. I have something started here and will post a list soon, so any suggestions would be great!

You could add a vileplume line if you dislike catcher so much. Also a sunflora would be great here with so many grass pokemon.

problem with vileplume is that it will take longer to set up and sunflora is kind of iffy for a deck like this, tho i will try it out in my next test and see how it goes.

Forget about Seviper, Celebi Prime and Venomoth. They are all bad cards and far from competitive. Two people at my league have built decks featuring status conditions that can actually put up a fight. The first one is a deck based around Leafeon UD, with Roserade UL and lots of Rainbow Energy and Houndoom Prime to inflict three statuses. This is extremely effective as it can pull off 150 damage (+ poison and possibly burn damage) very quickly. The downside is low HP which makes it awful late game. The second deck is actually a Jumpluff-deck with a Sunflora-engine and Roserade UL as a tech (alongside Rainbow Energy). It actually works great as Sunflora makes sure you get the field set up quickly, and the special conditions can be really annoying. The 10 extra damage from poison is great in just about every situation, and confusion forces the opponent to retreat - which is great in a format where free retreat is rare and most metagame-cards have high retreat cost. The downside here is Jumpluff's very low HP and the fact that it can not always get the KOs it needs to win the prize exchange. I wonder if this will work better when Catcher is released, but we will have to wait and see.

I hope this gives you some ideas, and that you will stay away from the three awful cards you had in mind.

One of my friends is running a pretty decent status deck atm. I've seen him hit 150 T2 or T3 at the latest. I think he runs a 4-4 Leafeon with a 3-3 Roserade and a 2-2 Houndroom Prime for his pokemon line, possibly a couple unown returns, 10-12 energy, and the rest is just T/S/S.

I've been playtesting for a few days now with a new build and I have since dropped Seviper and Venomoth from my list but i have kept Celebi and Shaymin in my list as they are great for stalling in the late game espcially against donphan. I have posted a list here: http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=98576&pid=1995809#pid1995809
