A deck idea that can OHKO Mewtwo EX for one colorless energy.

I thought of this about ten minutes ago, so bear with me here. What if Espeon Prime was used with Leafeon/Roserade? It can use Miasma Wind as its own, gaining the type advantage over Mewtwo EX. You can also use it to get rid of Reshiram's or Reshiram EX's type advantage. (Whichever becomes prevelant in our metagame.)

Combine that combo with a 2-2 line of Houndoom Prime for its Fire Breath, and you're getting 50 x 1-3, plus poison damage and/or burn damage and/or confusion. Total, that's enough to OHKO just about anything, and 2HKO everything else.

Well, what do you guys think? Discuss!

Yeah, you can OHKO Mewtwo EX for 1 colorless energy, meaning you avoid the revenge KO. It could also work against Chandelure since you are trading KOs, but you probably wouldn't have very good matchups agianst the rest of the board due to how hard it would be to consistantly OHKO Zekrom, Thundurus, Magnezone, Reshiram, Kyurem, etc. while they can consistently OHKO or at least hurt you bad. If your meta is only Gothitelle, Chandelure, and/or Mewtwo EX then sure this would work, but if there are a lot of other decks you could be in trouble.

We saw absolutely no ReshiPhlosion at our Cities. Plus, you have to remember they'll be wasting energy to retreat, or they'll have a 50/50 of attacking through Confusion. And if I only do 100 on average, then the poison+burn has a 50/50 of KOing a Zekrom, and confusion has a 50/50 after that, depending on which two Special Conditions were being used. With Raibow Energy, however, you can get Poison + Confusion from Roserade. Hypno is another option you may consider.

Well Leafeon Roserade has never been a good deck... why would that change now? This deck would do poorly against anything Reshiram, Zekrom, Magnezone, or just anything that can OHKO roserade or leafeon. Don't build decks to beat other decks... build decks that are good and see how they do against popular decks. You will commit too much to take knockouts (energy attachments and coin flips) while your opponent can take away your sources of damage. Coin flips are unreliable at best. Once you lose two Roserade, the game is effectively over. At average, you'll do 50/turn assuming you have both Hypno and Houndoom after Roserade is gone. Decks right now are too consistent, powerful, and explosive to lose to that.

Espeon prime techs aren't anything new in Leafeon decks.

As for right now, Leafeon is just too weak to perform very well. Last season they had Magmortar+BTS so they could blast out 100 pretty easily and consistently starting T2. When Amoongus ability comes out next ~February (I think it was) it will maybe see some more play, but for right now Roserade isn't enough on its own.

I just think that after we get EX's, special conditions will be more popular. Just KO'ing one is a third of the game. I'm thinking about this as a post-EX deck, not now. One reason I think this stands a chance is because Japan's current format is dominated by Mewtwo EX. I believe that anything that can OHKO EX's will be a good play, because everybody will be biting at the bit to play them.

I don't know what the ability Amoongus does, Cpt. Oats.

http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/thread-poison-leaves-leafeon-and-stuff courtesy of Catutie. It's basically just a nerfed reprint of Magmortar as far as this deck goes. Losing out on the burn Magmortar provided makes a houndoom tech almost forced in leafeon decks.

Planning for our meta based on another meta is never a good idea. Mewtwo EX will see play here, but it won't dominate just because it does in Japan.

You make good points. I will wait and see what our meta brings around.

Mewtwo EX is a meh card in our format IMO. MewBox does what you're trying to do a lot better, more consisently, and has good matchups against more decks. I'd really just give it up.
