as the title states, i want to play competitively, or as competitive as i can with just a hgss-onward format (since those are the only cards i have)

what is a good t/s/s engine that can work effectively well
got no bebe's, no lux ball, etc,
just pure hgss-onwards.
expert advice needed. thanks!

Like the previous poster, it really does depend on the deck...I'd think some kind of staple lineup currently would be something similar to this:

3 Pokemon Collector
2/3 Pokemon Communication/Professor Elm's Training Method
2/3 Professor Oak's New Theory/Copycat
2 Interviewer's Questions
1/2 Black Belt/Twins

This can obviously be varied up. Rare Candy can easily fit in the Stage 1/Stage 2 deck. Judge might be better than PONT depending on what the deck wants to do. This is also pretty much moot with the B/W set coming out along with the new Rules (possibly) and the next Rotation...

dmaster out.

jumpluff cant really survive without BTS...trust me i tried its pitiful. i think really for draw power use PONT AND judge but hey its up to you. sad that we will be stuck with these as out staples...all of the cards that we have had in our decks will be gone

thats what im kinda afraid of.
is there no decent way to keep up the speed with just hgss-bw t/s/s??

were gonna have to use *gasp* BILL oh ma gawd lol. it wont be to slow, we will still have PONT, PETM, pokemon communication, collector. its just evolving that will be a pain...you actually have to wait 3 turns for a stage 2 lol

I'd spend some money on bebe and ebelts if i were you its only like 10-15 dollars (ebelts are like $3 and bebes are $2), its all you really need thats not HGSS on in my opinion. There is palmers but you could just use Flower shop.

I think the only deck fast enough would be a fire deck using the ninetails draw power.

Collector, Communication, and PONT/Copycat/Judge are typically staples. Apart from that, it really just depends on the deck: decks aren't cookie-cutter anymore. That is, many decks have vastly different T/S/S lines from other decks, and they're just optimized for the strategy being used.
For example, VileGar runs nearly all Supporters, and only a few Trainers. On the other hand, Uxie Donk typically runs nearly all Trainers, and very very few Supporters. Neither of these decks run many Stadiums - VileGar might run a couple BTS - but MightyDonk runs about 6 or 7, and maybe even 8.
It all depends on the deck.

Collector, PONT, copycat, judge, energy exchanger, TRT, COmmunication, PETM any thing else you can thing of

If you lack staples like BTS, try making a rogue deck basing itself on slowing down your opponent more than setting up your own strategy. My personal advice would be for you to give Yanmega Prime a go, seeing as it only requires Copycat/Judge, and works ok without bts. Swarm the field with multiple bugs, and disrupt your opponent with multiple Judge's. Suddenly you're hitting for 70 every turn without a single energy:)

I cannot believe no one has said the only actual draw POWER that is hgss-on: Ninetails.

With Ninetails, you can run other fire pokemon, and Typhlosion. As you discard fire energy to draw, you get to attach them again with Typhlosion. As for the trainers, it seems pretty common:

3 Pokemon Collector
3 Elm's training method
3 Pokemon Communication
1 Flowershop girl(since Palmer's is out)
3 Judge/PONT/Copycat
2 Twins

Then whatever else you would like to run, really. Anything is good.

Oh, silly me :p. I must have read over that.

But yeah, it is fairly cheap, as Ninetails was reprinted in the CoL set, so it should be easy to get them. Typhlosion is also a tin promo, so that shouldn't be to difficult to get.

Again this comes back to a great engine and a great deck on paper: Zard. The problem is, Zard doesn't work very well under trainer lock, because it needs to come out fast. Even running zard with tombs and a more supporter-oriented engine only means you're going off slower and losing to SP more often. It can be built to beat one or the other of the tier 1 decks about 60% of the time right now, but not both.

Remember, Sp wouldn't be a problem because this is HS-on. No tomb or zard either.

how are gengar decks run hgss onwards in japan?
does anyone know a deck list for their t/s/s as well as pokemon?

"I cannot believe no one has said the only actual draw POWER that is hgss-on: Ninetails."

You're forgetting about Magnezone Prime.
