I would appreciate it if anyone could explain to me exactly what reverse foils are, how they're different from holographics or.. regular foils.. or.. something. I've been shopping around for cards and have been seeing the term used a lot. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.

Every single card (except Ex and Star cards) have a reverse holo version. They're the same as the normal version of the card, except that their picture background is holographic and in the corner of the picture there is the set symbol. For example here. Note: The holographic background is hard to see because it's a scan, but notice the set symbol in the picture's corner.

If you get a Rare card, or a Holographic card, in reverse holo their Name, HP and Rarity star in the bottom corner will be Gold. For example here.

Overall, reverse holos are merely for collectors and are only valued slightly higher than their normal card versions.

The price won't go up everytime it is the reverse holo version of a card. When a holofoil card is reverse holo, the price gets lowered. That is true.
