Before anyone gets really excited, this IS NOT Mother 4.

None the less, this is pretty awesome.

Shigesato Itoi, creator of the Earthbound (known as Mother in Japan) series of games and editor-in-chief of the popular Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun website, says that some sort of Earthbound return is underway.

Before you get excited, it’s not Earthbound 4.

Over Twitter, Itoi shared: “Since I’m allowed to drop it on you all now, I’ll just go ahead and say it. The “Mother re-release” I’d mentioned a bit before, we’re making progress on that.”

I just read something about this about 10 minutes ago myself before I saw it on here.

I'm so happy they're actually aiming to re-release the game on whatever medium they decide too (3DS, etc). Just the fact that it's taken this long has been really disappointing to me.

My eyes just widened so much when I saw this.

If this comes over here and on the 3DS, I will be extremely happy. Heck, if it were all 3 of the Mother games in one, even released on the E-Shop, that would be something to live for.

Wasn't there already a Mother 1+2 remake for the Game Boy Advance in Japan? I doubt this will get a international release either. If I remember correctly, Nintendo said that Earthbound was never going to come out on the Virtual Console due to copyrights or something, so them releasing a remake/re-release of Earthbound and-or Mother outside of Japan now doesn't really make much sense. I've never played a Mother game, so I would definitely buy it if it were to come out in the US, it sounds good.

Oh boy.
The Mother series is just amazing, and seeing EarthBound remade, possibly(but unlikely) in 3D, is something I´m looking forward to. : D
Please, this MUST come to America. And other places as well. : P
Man, I must finish EarthBound Zero now...
About the copyright issues...I don´t know, maybe the could tamper a bit with the references, but still leave some details intact.
