Pokemon Action Replay Question

No. I borrowed by friend's AR, and my DS works fine. HOWEVER. I hate the AR with all my gut, for it ruined my Diamond. It still works, but there are things that have been messed up, and hinders normal Gameplay.
 
@Shadow Arceus, I'm not saying it's just a tiresome task. It's pretty much impossible. You can get such high IVs with your AR that you would almost never be able to get playing without it, which is why people settle for IVs in the high 20s when IV training. With an AR, you don't HAVE to settle for those IVs, so you get Pokémon stronger than you would have without it. It's not just a tiresome task you're making easier, it's a tiresome task you wouldn't have been able to do without the AR.
 
I use my AR every so often and haven't had a problem with codes or anything. There was one issue I had using a cheat for my diamond game in which I tried getting the Azure Flute so I could battle Arceus in which it started to work but the game suddenly froze after I got the item; however, I turned off the game and played it normally from where I last saved and it worked fine, just this freeze-up came about only after I used another cheat to get a bunch of Pokemon missing from my Pokedex from the scientist at the Oreburgh Mining Museum (turned out I just couldn't use the Azure Flute cheat like I wanted to and so used that same Mining Museum cheat to get a couple Arceus, which I think was better because they were only at level 20 and I like raising Pokemon from low levels like that anyways as opposed to the Level 80 Arceus I caught when I used another Azure Flute cheat in Platinum).

On the side of competitive battling, though, I'd never chance using the AR cheat to jack-up a Pokemon. Not because it's moral, but I'd just not want to get a rep as a cheater that way (even if it was just a one time thing or whatever).
 
Scizor, it's totally possible to get Pokemon with 31 IVs in every stat without the use of an AR. (Ever heard of RNG?) And, given that you obviously have no idea what I use the AR for, I really can't see where you're going with this. Shadow Arceus is right; your argument didn't strengthen your cause, it strengthened the opposite.

I mean seriously, if it's tiresome without an AR, and not tiresome with an AR, why on earth would I want to opt for the more tiresome option? You have to remember, people have lives, and not all of them want to spend them doing tedious things like looking for the perfect Pokemon for weeks on end.

...and now this is getting into a totally different matter that has absolutely NOTHING to do with this thread.
 
Uh... 31 IVs in just 2 stats POSSIBLE, just good luck getting it. 1 in 1024 chance is NOT good. And then you can get it for all your Pokémon with an AR. And you can get 31 IVs in every stat.
And okay. If you want to use an AR just to catch Pokémon, that's fine. It'll only save you about 30 minutes of work, so I'm not sure it's worth even using the AR for that, but whatever.
My argument is based upon the point that yes, it is tiresome without the AR, and no, it's not tiresome without the AR, BUT using the AR to do something you wouldn't have bothered to do without it makes it no different from it being an impossible task without the AR. I don't think you're going to bother testing Pokémon until you get 31 IVs in even 2 stats for every one. It may as well be impossible without the AR because you wouldn't have done it either way.
 
Scizor you're really pushing it in the wrong direction with your speech. You basically said go buy an AR because it takes to friggin long to get a Pokemon with the IVs you want.
 
It does. But I'm not arguing that it's harder with the AR or something, I'm saying it's cheating. If you guys want to cheat, use the AR to do something you wouldn't have anyways. It's fine as a time-saver. But not as something to make your Pokémon stronger. That's when it becomes outright cheating.
 
I personally hate hacking, I got a Diamond that was hacked up, and I didn't take any of the Masterballs of it or anything, although all my friends did. Anyways hacking can break your DS, but not likely, one of my friends hacked for I'd say about a month, and he hacked so much that his Action Replay broke before his game or DS did. I think it is safe, for your DS, but it can mess up your game a lot.

And this is why you always have to be careful with what you do. I have never used the walk-through-walls code in my life because I know of the risks it poses. I've only used Pokemon modifiers, a shiny modifier (one that actually does work), and a vitamin modifier. That's basically it. I even go through the trouble of putting Pokemon in the daycare to hatch eggs before I start raising them competitively, because I want it to be very clear I play by the rules - I just speed the end results up to save time.

I mean, if you're going to hack up a storm without being careful and paying attention to what you are doing, then of course you're going to end up messing up your game. You just need to be cautious, that's all. If you haven't used something before, try checking your boxes and your party after you use it, without saving, just to make sure everything's all right.

And of course, it depends on where you get the codes from, too...
 
^Which is fine. But when people use it for competitive play, they typically mean to hack the IVs of Pokémon to make them 31. Which is NOT a time-saver, since you wouldn't have done that anyways.
 
Cheat, hack up, and ruin all ur games if you would like, but dont use it for competitive play. Its not fair to all the people who did it it right and DIDN'T cheat, especially if u are too win. Does it seem fair that someone who cheated to get the best Pokemon possible beats someone who tried hard, put work into it, and did it right? Its not
 
I doubt that anybody who plans on winning competetive competitions doesn't cheat. I'm just trying to be on the same level, not be above other people. Can we stop with this morals discussion? Let's go back to the discussion of whether or not it's safe. Mmmkay? Also, work on your spelling...
 
I went into the Mystery Zone in Diamond while I was on WiFi, and my DS just shorted out.
 
^You were using the walk through walls cheat,that is the probable cause of how your ds had a shortage.Also I do not believe the game itself can recognize the mystery zone which is also a factor.
 
Don't do anything stupid.

The only thing wrong with My DS/ Game/ AR is when I have it in it freezes sometimes and just after I take it out. It was really bad at one point, but I was using a lot of codes, pointless ones too. I used to much of the, Walk Through Walls and all of that stuff. Now I only use it for items and for cloning my pokemon (Though my PC is almost full now).
