Action Replay

As a TCG player I have never considered playing the video game competitively. But with the release of BW I am considering giving it a try and now that I have beaten the game I am going to start breeding and building a team. I would rather not use an AR to assist in building a team but I work full-time and am a full-time father, while I do have some time at night I don't have enough to build a grade A team.

But to move on I was wondering if anyone knows if using codes like wild pokemon modifier code for EV training, EV/IV check, and quick hatch can be traced by a hatch check for competitive play.

Wow! I spent the whole day breeding some Axews. And I have to say that I have a lot of respect for the people who breed their Pokemon without any outside help because it really is a hard job trying to get the perfect pokemon. I spent almost seven hours today and I'm not even close to getting an Axew to where I want it to be even with the codes.

I feel bad now for using the codes. I going to do this the right way and reap the rewards of hard work. Now is there any good sites out there that can help me with the breeding. I've looked at seribii and bulbapedia but they just tell me about the power items and how to pass on TMs, natures, etc or is that all there is to it. To get a Pokémon with 31 IVs and a complimentary nature to its role on the team.

Anyways I'm just rambling on. I'm going to keep breeding and through trial and error I'll learn how to do this.

Using an Action Replay on your Pokemon game WILL leave traces of its being used as the game is said to save differently when you use it. Also, using a wild Pokemon modifier will flag the Pokemon as hacked if it is caught in a place it usually couldn't be. If you're just using the wild Pokemon modifier to grind them for ev's, you should be fine, but you will still possibly have the AR flag on your save file. If you have already used the AR, you can restart your save file and the traces and evidence will be gone. Though if you have two games (a Pokemon Black and White) Only hack on one of them and keep the other completely Untouched by hacking devices, this way, you can hack on one, then trade the Pokemon you had on the hacked game to the legit game and use the legit game to compete in the tournament.

Hack on one, and trade your team to another game if possible, because this doesn't set off any alarms.

AR tainting your file is nothing more than scare tactics employed by idiots who don't know how to use AR. Used correctly, there are no traces of any kind left on your game (or system, if you're that superstitious).

I'm not superstitious or anything. I'm just completely new to this so I figured I would ask.

Also thanks everyone for replying to my post. I'm going to try my best to get a team ready as soon as I can. And I will be using the AR but mostly for EV training.

@PMJ: what do you mean by using the AR correctly, do you mean using only certain codes and not others?

It's sort of self-explanatory. Some people might try to run multiple codes that don't mix well and it can corrupt your file, or people who put in the wrong codes by accident. Forgetting to turn on a necessary code for something to work could also cause harm, and other stuff like that. You can really use any code with the Ar; however you just need to use common sense with the codes.

You can use an AR to train legitly. For example, I use the 9999 BP code. With that, I can get unlimited, legit candys and medicine. With that, I can EV train A LOT faster.

For breeding, you can use a fast hatch code.

None of that 'corrupts' your game.

I mean know what you're doing. Learn how to put in codes correctly and don't wind up with bad eggs and you'll be good.

I don't even have an AR, and I never plan on getting one. I say that you should just work for it yourself. Plus it makes you feel like your on top of the world when your done. Just be patiant and you'll be fine.:)

I may not be a competitive battler, but I've raised an EV trained Forretress before (though I don't think I got it perfect)with AR before, and even then it is still tedious.

Although you may have an edge with 999 Rare Candies (you won't have to battle the E4 9000+ times) or being able to capture Lv. 50 Pokemon anywhere (you won't have to waste 9000+ Ultra Balls or hatch 9000+ eggs), you still have to do the EV training, checking for natures and all the other monster work (get it?).
