How exactly does this work? Does it mean that you can choose any of your opponent's Pokèmon, or is it restricted to the Active Pokèmon?

Pokè-POWER Plymimic
Once during your turn, instead of Alakazam’s normal attack, you may choose 1 of your opponent’s Pokèmon’s attacks. Alakazam copies that attack including its Energy costs and anything else required in order to use that attack, such as discarding Energy cards. (No matter what type that Pokèmon is, Alakazam’t type is still Psychic.) This power can’t be used if Alakazam is affected by a Special Condition.

If it specifies "active", you can only copy the active, if it specifies bench, you can only copy the bench ones, but if it says, 1 of youre opponents pokemon, you can copy any attack from your opponents pokemon. other says, any pokemon in play, that means, both active & bench, and yours or your opponent.

You can use the attack as it were one of your Pokemon attacks. Say your opponent has a Charizard. Either on the bench or it is active You can use the attack Blast Burn to deal out the damage. It is sort of like using Metronome to copy a move and use it in the GBA/GB games.:)
