Ancient Trait Tentacool and Others Seen in XY5 Commercial [11/29]

I like the fact that ancient Tentacool is a PURPLE poison type instead of the water types that we usually see. I pray that we get some form of Tentacruel in the same color, it's been a long time coming IMO.

I'm still kind of mixed about these ancient traits though. On one hand they add something new to the game, but I think these should have been done in moderation. When cards like Tentacool, Torchic, and Bunnelby get them it kind of cheapens the idea I think.

-Bunnelby? Seems stupid since Diggersby was already in XY4. Probably won't be very good, since both Diggersby cards out right now are only 'okay' and 'awful'.

-Yes, Electrike! So glad there is at least 1 Lightning Type Trait user. The Trait is actually fitting for an Unevolved Basic, since it can't be Lysandre'd for a quick KO. High hopes for a playable Manectric!

-Gorebyss is back, that's nice. A Growth on Water Types is actually starting to get pretty boring, but I guess Blastoise won't be around for forever.

-Medi. Freaking. Cham. With Multi-Strike. Anyone in favor of this card being Grade A, raise your hand!

-Tentacool is back as well! Not super thrilled, but the new Trait seems interesting. Since it's so small, I assume it prevents Special Conditions.

Maybe that Bunnelby will lead to a fighting (ground) type Diggersby. That'd be nice and completley new as well.

Of course that being said would Diggersby (regardless of its type) have an ancient trait of it's own or are they going to make some card that lets evolved versions access past ancient traits? Not to mention others like Torchic and Electrike that have them as well.

The artwork looks kind of cheap, like they just took a screenshot from the anime.

Mizue is anything but cheap. She's arguably one of the best artists to ever grace the game. Just look at the HQ versions!

So do we know if these are commons, uncommons, ultra rares? I'd hate for a Tentacool to take the position of a rare spot in a booster pack...

Cool idea, but I gotta agree, if they over do the ancient trait cards it doesent make the ones who have it special anymore. Bring back all the artists that did skyridge and Aquapolis Plzzzzzz

Yay I'm pleased that the Tentacruel line will be here. And Gorebyss, though it looks quite weak -.-

How do you all know the traits of those previews already? The homepage news said the photos were too blurry to tell.

Anyone know Crawdaunt's ability? EDIT: found it.

Savage Pincers:

When you play this Pokemon from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon, you may discard an Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokemon.

That's awesome.

The more ancient traits Im seeing, the more Im expecting them to sucker punch us with Swalot with Swalotoxin shutting off ancient traits

Not sure if anyone else noticed this but only pokemon that have ancient traits are getting this new pseudo full art design. That being said I think we'll see this design on all rarities from common to rare. I just can't image Tentacool, Electrike, and Bunnelby being rares.

The odds of that aren't too good, but I recall a rare Tentacool. This was during the Gym Hero set though and that was just a day or two ago. ;)

Gia Volcano Medicham translation has been revealed at http://google.com/ and it indeed looks nice:

Medicham
Stage 1 Fighting Pokémon - evolves from Mediate
HP 90
Ω Multi Strike: This Pokemon can attack twice. If your opponent's Active Pokemon is Knocked Out with the first attack, you may attack your opponent's new Active Pokemon with the second attack. (Note: Text is too small, may be inaccurate.)
[C] Calm Mind
Heal 30 damage from this Pokémon
[F][F] Yoga Kick: 30
This attack's damage is not affected by weakness or resistance.
Retreat Cost: C
Weakness: P

With all the reliable [F] support this one could ohko Pokémon Ex even without Machamp.

Psst, Multi Strike = Barrage, like it was on my original translation. The recently leaked Nidoqueen had Omega Barrage and the clause 'This Pokemon may attack twice', so.

I don't think Medicham is a Game Changer, but it's still pretty solid. 2 Machamps and a Muscle Band, or 2 Strong Energy and a Muscle Band takes the magic 180 damage!
