I know we have to wait for the english card to be printed before we can decide if rare candy stops it's ability or not. But for the sake of argument, lets say that its ability also stops rare candy evolutions. What possible decks could this be used in as a tech. Would it be better in a Lock deck, or something like ZPS. I really like this pokemon in-game so I hope he will be useful in the TCG meta game :)

Archeops – Fighting – HP130
Stage 1 – Evolves from Archen

Ability: Prehistoric Power
While this Pokemon is in play, no player can play a Pokemon from their hand to evolve his or her Pokemon.

[F][F][C] Rock Slide: 60 damage. Choose 2 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. This attack does 10 damage to each of them. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

Weakness: Grass (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

Since Rare Candy counts as evolving the Pokemon, Archeops stops it. However, the fossil mechanic makes it slow and unreliable to set up. Its also Catcherable so your having a Donphan or Yanmega or Reshiram set up puts all your efforts to waste.

so it is slow and unreliable. thats too bad. well I hope there will be some future for it. too bad it isnt just an aerodactyl from fossil remake :p

This card is slow but a way to make up for it is with Jirachi. I have a deck list in mind for this. Including Goth Ability and recyle. It would look like this.
3-2 Archeops.
3-2-3 Goth Ability
4xMewtwo EX
2xJirachi
Then to take full advantage of the fossil is to junk a little bird. Then reycle it to the top.

recycle is a 50/50 card. I wouldnt use it but I see what you are saying with the item lock and deevolution

Why would you run a stage 2 build in an Archeops deck?

For both Trainer and evolution lock. I don't really like it, but it could be a Twins Vileplume Archeops thing.

Because you need a way to block trainers from being used while you are still able to use your fossils. As for the Recyle. It seems with the new Fossil mech that a 50/50 chance is not so bad. This is still a thought in the making just thought I would throw it out there.

Right, because Archeops is soooo easy to get out when you have Vileplume in play. :p

^Play Oddish/Gloom, get Archen on bench, evolve to Vileplume, then evolve to Archeops. I'm not saying it's going to work, but it's not extremely difficult.

You could with previous fossils. However, the new fossils act differently. They are trainer-cards, and once you play them, you search the bottum 7 cards of your deck, and if the stage 1 fossil (archen in this case) is there you can put it on the bench. Then you can evolve that. Because Archen is a stage 1 the only way to get him on the bench is through the effect of the fossil, which is not reliable at all.

I have no intention of running Archeops in my Goth build. That said, I use Electrode Prime for Energy Acceleration, which means 4 Research Record and 4 Junk Arms. Which has the potential to be a fossil's best friend.
